10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Not sure if anyone has bothered to label these yet to make modding the TG-16 deck easier. If they have, then feel free to ignore this. If not, then here you go. This will allow you to avoid snipping and lifting pins on the system and just solder directly to solder joints when using the Obey chip. All this will involve is cutting traces instead. Gametech had posted something about cutting the traces in one of his videos, but he never actually labeled/stated which ones led to which joints.

Kinda felt this info should be shared, so I labeled them in a couple of pics. It's up to you to decide where to cut the traces, but in the pics you can see where I did mine. Thanks to HercTnT for providing the system to work on. Hopefully this is clear enough to understand. If not, I'm old and tired, so no fucks given.

For those who can't see the cut traces, look on the PCB side picture near where wires are soldered to pin 15, 16, and 17.  Just below the number box.

Yeah I mean the traces will be obvious anyway. They all leave the pins located at the slot on the TG16. I chose to cut them further down where they separate some and are not bunched together.

Thanks for sharing. Seems like a cleaner/easier method. Cutting the Hucard slot pins always seemed to be the unsettling part for the few region mods I've done.

I prefer doing it all from the same side. Still need to cut the same traces underneath.
