Hi All,

I'm new to TurboGrafx collecting. So, I have a Turbografx-16 + Turbografx-CD add on. I have no issues playing Turbochips. The one US TurboCD release I have (Ys Book I and II) has no issues running on the system when I have my System Card in there.

However, when I try to play the Super-CDROM game I own, I'm using the following setup:
1) Using a Japanese Super System Card 3.0 + PCEngine-to-TG16 converter from retrotowers ( http://www.retrotowers.co.uk/other-consoles/turbografx-16/pc-engine-to-turbografx-16-converter ).
2) Legit copy of the Japanese Super-CD rom game Winds of Thunder
3) I am able to get to the Super System 3.0 screen (where it says "press run button"), but when Winds of Thunder starts to bootup I instantly get a light blue (sky blue) screen and that's it.

I know the PC Engine-to-Turbo converter works (at least somewhat) because I can play the PCEngine HuCard for Salamander using this converter. Also, I can get to the System System 3.0 start screen as well.

I believe Winds of Thunder is working because when I use an emulator (Magic Enginer) to try and run my CD copy of the game, it works fine.

Does anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions? I apologize if I'm asking stupid questions as I'm brand new to this system.

Thanks!

It says TG16 Converter on the board, which is not compatible with system cards.  You need a PC Henshin or Turbo PC Henshin: http://www.db-elec.com/home/products/pc-engine-to-turbografx16-converter

That's interesting why are some converters not compatible with system cards? Long bus? Missing line or 2?

Thanks for the reply. The thing that throws me for a loop is that on the retrotowers website for the converter i bought specifically says the following blurb:

QuoteThe PC-Engine to TurboGrafx-16 Converter is compatible with:

TurboGrafx-16 NTSC
TurboGrafx-16 PAL
TurboDuo NTSC
Turbo Express NTSC
PC-Engine Super System Card 3.0
Furthermore, the website link that you posted has a link to retrotowers which links to the exact same converter that I purchased: http://www.db-elec.com/home/products/pc-engine-to-turbografx16-converter ( if you scroll to the retrotowers link at the bottom, it links to the exact same model i purchased )

Can you help me understand a bit more about where I went wrong (it seems like retro-towers is flat out wrong/lying on their website in that case)? Also, are PC-Henshin's available for purchase anywhere?  Dont see them anywhere for purchase.
