Just a quick hello and a bit about me and the TG16.

I started looking into "obscure" systems a while back and the TG16 caught my attention in a big way and got me back into retro gaming. I started with an Atari 2600 and bounced around to other systems. My attention is finally back and I'm saving for my first system while I try out games via emulation.

Glad to be aboard.

You should consider a DUO if you are getting into it. I dont want to down play the TG16 because it is awesome, but having the DUO makes you able to play ALL of the great PCE/DUO games.

The Duo R is in my sights. I wish the duo looked less bland though. I like the way the Core looks. Maybe I'll get one as a backup/for travel. I think there are enough good card games to justify it.

There are many, many great HuCARD games to enjoy. You can always get into the CD-ROM games, later.

If you see a CD game at a great price, get it! No harm in that.

Someone stop me...I know PCFXers have a rap for being assholes a-la N-G forumites but these here are fighting words! Duo is pure sex unlike it's fat pale white younger brother the R(X). Turbo was never an unknown obscure system to me, got it back in '90 and never looked back. Maybe games got hard to find in the late 90's but mom and pop used games stores and the list-serv helped me continue to get more games to play and trade.

Welcome to the forum, and I hope you have a thick skin...remember, it's just text on a screen.

PS: A decent amount of us to not hide behind the screen, we get up at a few cons and gatherings so keep an eye out for posts about meet-ups...get your true obey experience.

Oh I meant the R. The black duo is hot.
I put obscure in quotes because its more of comment on today's view on retro systems. Everyone and their grandmothers know Nintendo. A little less so with Sega. The TG16 just isn't widely known now outside of the retro/collector circles.

Welcome!!!  I never felt that the Turbo was an Obscure system, it was sold right along with SEGA and Nintendo BITD and was pretty much main stream in the North East when I was a kid.  None the less buying a Duo and not buying into the Hype of over priced games is the way to go.  It's a great system or sure.
