Sad to say but you kinda knew it was coming, just not when it was coming. They haven't released a cause from what I've seen but I'll be surprised if it wasn't drug-related since he's struggled with addiction for so many years.

It's sad to hear. Due to his history though I presume drugs but you never know.

Drugs are a terrible thing, dude had been battling addiction for quite some time..

He had said earlier that he hadn't had a needle in over a decade, but that was my first thought, too.

Dicer

Knew it was coming, still sucks...

HailingTheThings

Reminds me of how Wayne Static went. Hadn't done any hard drugs for a while, but they certainly took their toll on him. RIP

Looks like there was cocaine on the bus and the bassist was arrested.

VenomMacbeth

Well he's definitely less than half the man he used to be now...

...too soon?

Saw Velvet Revolver at the last? Lollapalooza tour in 2003 or 2004 "by accident"

...And saw STP once bitd. Core was one of the first records I owned. I haven't listened to them since "Purple" and barely remember "Tiny Sounds".

Haven't been a fan in over a decade, but that sucks. He had a long road to recovery after kicking the big H. RIP.

Got to see STP live during that 2000/2001 tour my freshmen year in college...really glad I got at least one chance to see the original full lineup live. Even if Weiland was coked out of his gourd during that show. They sounded perfect though. Got to see Velvet Revolver too.

Sucks to see him go, but I think everyone saw that coming miles away.

When I first got into listening to music on a regular basis I got my parents to let me sign up for those Columbia house deals, 12 CD's for a penny.

I picked up STP Core, in the group along with alot of other of stp's contemporaries. Had its playing in my CD player constantly, the first CD that I liked to listen to all the songs and knew all the words.

When Shangri-la came out they had a tour here and regretted not going, and a few years later when Scott was with Velvet Revolver and my fiance wanted to go and again I passed it up, at least in this case it was because I had just gone to three other shows.
