I would say blue bimmer is the exception.  But I think you could expand it to all German cars.  Honestly, when I used to manage an automotive shop VW owners were the worst. 

I still think "Mustang Head" is the worst form of automotive snobbery.  Example:  "No way you could beat me in a race.  I got an 88' GT with the 5 point O.  Fastest year from the factory."

It's a real problem here. They're constantly running lights, cutting in front of people, driving the opposite speeds of each lane and smoking up a storm. It wouldn't be so bad if there weren't so many of them.

I once was a passenger in an early to mid 90s BMW 3 compact. The owner drove it like a mad man once we were outside of villages/towns and entered into zones with no speed restrictions. However, the street was pretty narrow with lots of curves and vegetation left and right, so you had trouble seeing what's coming at you after the next curve. His suspension setup was pretty bad, we were 4 people in his car and the suspension bottomed out every so often. I told him he should get harder springs, but he blamed it on damper oil being too soft. Erm... His car was also full of badly aligned custom body/grill parts.

But then, I am riding a bicycle everyday to work, and I've seen enough asshole bike riders that drive through red lights on crowded crossings, cut others off on streets and bike lanes, use annoying fast-blinking lights instead of a safe constant lighting in the night, and the list goes on and on. One funny thing I found out aggressive bicycle drivers in my area have in common: They all wear helmets.

Please take what I say with a grain of salt. It is easy for us to remember just the 1 bad example in a sea of 100 good people.

Here in the UK it's a bit above average Car, with every day average drivers. My dad who's in his mid sixties drives a 5 Series.

Yup same here in Texas these losers in their huge pick ups are compensating for sure.  Especially when it rains because in North Texas we get crazy weather like the tornados not long ago.  These jokers think because they in a truck they can drive through flooded streets.

Living in a college town, I would have to say the worst are young girls in huge SUVs. I'm not sure why every 19 year-old girl needs the largest vehicle made. They have difficulty with every single aspect of driving and parking. They can't stay within their own parking space. They can't back out of said parking space. They're too busing texting to know when the fucking light turns green. Fuck man, what are parents teaching their children these days?

I've never owned a BMW car, but I have a 30 yo motorcycle that I have to do all the work on myself. It has 100K miles, and still has the original laser and capacitors.

...but that's a lot different than buying a New 325i. The BMW motorcycle forums are as tight knit as we are here, helping others with bikes, parts, repairs, customizations, etc... and a general contempt for the assholes described in this article. They want to keep bikes on the road just like we want to keep Duo's on the road. I literally have to make parts (gaskets, electrical, body, etc.) for the fucking thing sometimes.

We make fun of the car drivers as much as this article does on the regular. It's a completely different mentality; they covet the machines for the name and status it brings, and we ride BMW's because the bikes will run damn near forever if maintained properly. 

So I'm an asshole. Not sure if the author had cyclists in mind, but he said ownership, so I'll wear that badge on my riding jacket.

A friend rides an old R65 that he's slowly beautifying, and I came within a cats-whisker of buying a K75 before settling on an old Japanese V-twin instead.

The assholes that the give BMW cars a bad name, are the same kind of folks that put $20,000 of chrome accessories on a Harley, and then have it trucked to 10 miles outside of Sturgis so that they can ride in the last 10 miles and pretend.

Exactly. BMW, Harley, Sealed AMF Models, there are people everywhere that want shit in a box and never actually play, ride, etc.

Or maybe its the weaving in and out of traffic and consistently doing 30 to 40 mph over the speed limit ;) Personally I see a larger percent of motorcycle drivers break the rules of the road than that of cars/vans/trucks. Nothing against you blue but like I said in my original post in this thread, there are idiots in every make/model of vehicle out there

We used to have 530d e39s for work. Brilliant cars. Invincible. I'm being given a company car today a brand new 116d. But those 530ds were the best. So comfy, so powerful so up to the Job. E39 was most well built mass produced car imo.

E39s are one of my favorite BMWs.   I drive an e53 now which is basically the SUV version of the e39.  The only model i like better are the e30s.

must be nice to have the diesel e39s though.  That would have been sweet!
