@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I'm the recent recipient of an amazing Duo-R from Micktris and I'm looking for some games to get a feel for the system. So this would be kind of a WTB thread, and maybe a recommendation thread as well. I'm not sure if people sell to newbies, so if you do, I'd appreciate any offers.

My main interests are RPGs and adventure games (probably not the system for it I know) but some recommendations on that front are great. I have YsI and II. Is III worth picking up as well?
How about Neutopia, is that worth a shot? Exile any good?

For starting shooters I was thinking Lords of Thunder and Blazing Lazers? Good start?

I'm also a big Castlevania fan, but I think I might have to give up on Rondo of Blood given the current costs on ebay.

Any general recommendations are much appreciated. I tend to collect with Manual if anyone feels like offering.

As many suggest I thes forums. New to Turbo? Go with a everdrive. Burn ISO copies of the cd games. And test out what's out there.

That way before you spend money on physical copies you'll know what you are getting into.

Yes Neuotpia 1&2 are great games.

Sos this thread can't be a buy thread. People will sell to who ever it's their preogadive mind you just because someone is selling here doesn't mean it's a good price FYI.

Keep any eye out on the sales bread and you'll find stuff all the time. For the love of God DONT ask for magical chase. Just don't.

As for recommendations. Check out the "what Turbo game you are playing" thread. Good spot to heck out people's thoughts on games. Also NecroPhile had a game thread hays fun to go through.

There's a catch-22 with the whole RPG genre on the Turbo.

It's one of the best consoles ever for RPGs, but a huge amount of the library has not been translated.

It's not like the SNES where there are dozens of translations available.

That said, the Legend of Xanadu I and II translations are coming out soon, might wanna check those out.

One of my favorite 16-bit games, period, is Ys IV: Dawn of Ys. If you want adventure, this game has it for sure. Nightwolve and Deuce did a great job bringing it to a bigger audience.

Neutopia is pretty meh in my opinion, though 2 is a little better.

Exile is good, though if you have a genesis just get a cheap copy on there. Exile 2 is so average it hurts.

I am super excited for the Xanadu translations as well. I've been thinking of going through Ys 1 to 4 as well. I'm playing I and II as soon as I'm done with FFXV.

Also, ignore my comment regarding WTB . I'll keep an eye out in the FS thread.

Stop thinking. Start doing. Get those Ys.

The only problem with Exile is it doesn't offer any kind of challenge. Still worth playing though.

CrackTiger

Some great RPGs with detailed walkthroughs and guides:

Neo Metal Fantasy
Anearth Fantasy Stories
Tengai Makyou II
Tengai Makyou Fuun Kabuki Den
Legend of Xanadu II
Dragon Knight II
Tenshi No Uta
Tenshi No Uta II
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

PukeSter

OP, Black Tiger also wrote the guide for Tengai Makyou II

He's a pretty big fan of those games, so PM him if you got questions.

NecroPhile

Emerald Dragon is pretty good as well, and it also has a translation in the works.
