So in response to the comments in the Worst US Turbografx CD game thread where a lot of people expressed their feelings that they didn't believe there is a bad CD game for the Turbografx.  Let's see what the Greatest one is.  Limited to 3 votes per users this time.

Psycho Punch

I voted for both Ys 1 & 2 and Might and Magic 3. Both are the absolute best the Duo can offer (US wise of course).

I wish more people played M&M3 really, it is a fantastic western style RPG, but it seems that people are mainly worried about the prices on ebay for it (even for the bootleg version (!)). Shame.

He also ran scripts to steal/clone this forum which blew up the error logs! I had to delete THOUSANDS of errors cause of this nutcase!

Funny you mentioned M&M3.  I was just looking on ebay at TG16 related stuff and noticed people asking $500 for it.  Crazy price right there.  Glad I bought my copy BitD for $30.   :D

Fingers crossed Splash Lake gets at least one more vote.

Ys Book I & II and Gate of Thunder were obvious choices for me. Ys was the whole reason I got the CD attachment: it was so far ahead of anything else on a home system at the time graphically and musically. The translation was excellent and it had great voice acting, especially compared to other Turbo CD titles.

Gate of Thunder is one of the best shooters I have ever played, and remains one of my favorites today. I'm not great at shooters, but the difficulty felt perfect for me. The soundtrack is one for the ages as well.

Ultimately, I also went with Dungeon Explorer II. The gameplay is loads of fun, and the soundtrack is fantastic.

Terraforming is crazy awesome graphically with all dat scrolling. Lords for music, and kickass shooter, and Ys because awesome

Can anyone tell me if the Sherlock Holmes games are any good?

Yes they are, if you appreciate "digital adventure" games.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

If you like reading through little newspaper clippings and putting together a mini-mystery then it's fun. I have fond memories of playing through these games with my father when I was younger. They're good, but they're not the typical kind of game you would expect to play on a console.

This thread is lucky that Ai Cho Aniki wasn't released in the US or this would be a landslide vote.

I own J.B. Harold Murder Club and really couldn't get into that.  But it was a long time ago that I played it.  Might have to give it another try.  I've always been a fan of Sherlock Holmes and figured I would give these games a try if they were good.  Are they just one mystery per game or multiple ones?

3 per game.

He then followed it up with 8 WEEKS of ~DAILY calling! BAN ON SIGHT!!!

After I voted I found that I voted for the top 3.  I'm very unsurprised at the results.
Current want list:  Bomberman 93

Arkhan Asylum

Anyone who voted for M&M 3 is an idiot and should go play the DOS one and stop lying to themselves.

Also, can we all agree Magical Dinosaur Tour is like, an untouchable #1 off by itself in terms of "awesome as fuck"?

I voted for Shadow of the Beast.  The TurboCD soundtrack shits all over the original one.

This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" yeah that too.

and the collision detection is better.

It's just a better game, lol.

Graphics suffer slightly, but overall, it's probably the best version.

Gypsy

I voted for Lords but it was close with Ys I-II.

LostFlunky

I don't get how LoT is leading GoT at this point.. LoT is purely a visceral experience, and it is a good game, but GoT is so much better designed, balanced etc....

Green

Dungeon Explorer 2. Best music out the bunch IMO (even better than Lords of Thunder).
Great cutscenes with good voice acting, lots of characters to choose from, the right amount of challenge.
Love it and I'm a shooter guy.

NecroPhile

There's a lot of greatness in this poll.  There's very few titles that don't rank as at least 'good'.

I went with Ys I & II because it's awesome in every way, Gate of Thunder because it's a perfect shewty with the added bonus of Bonk's Adventure, Bonk's Revenge, and Bomberman being along for the ride, and Godzilla because I figured he needed at least one vote.
Ultimate Forum Bully/Thief/Saboteur/Clone Warrior! BURN IN HELL NECROPHUCK!!!

Its hard to debate what is the greatest game on a format that manage to produce CD format games right compared to other systems. I voted for YS 1 & 2 just because it a killer launch game when it was released and still enjoyable to this day.

I don't think that Gate is better than Lords in most aspects and Lords is likely leading because it's more enjoyable for most people. When you break down everything, Lords does most things Gate does ten fold and has much more variety of experiences and aesthetics, even compared to arcade shooters at the time.

I honestly didn't even like Gate that much.

Bingo,

Lords is a lot more accessible.

It has selectable armors, you can pick which stage to start with. There's a shop where you can buy weapons upgrades. It's not as balanced of a game. But it offers more novelty features for a 16-bit shooter than most other games, so I can see why it's so popular.

Oh man I sort of disagree here, I like Gate of Thunder way more than Lords of Thunder, even though I still love both. They're probably in my top 5. I don't think that accessibility is the only thing that LoT has going for it, and sometimes the music can be a bit too over the top for me with mindless guitar shredding (though that's not to say that it isn't sweet.) The soundtrack to GoT seems a bit more fitting for the game itself where it gets bumping or fast with whatever level you're on.

Some of the level design in LoT isn't as elaborate or cool as GoT. LoT, for me, could get pretty cluttered on screen with all of the gems. GoT had the sweet levels where those pillars would come in and out and you had to do some clever maneuvering throughout a lot of the levels.
