DISCLAIMER: Horrible stuff is happening everywhere, but at pcefx, many of us share a general interest in Japanese culture and politics.

ABOMINABLE:

I won't even get into obvious issues concerning civil liberties (and Thought Police, and other Orwellian tropes).

Instead, I give you:

"Under the new laws, it will make it illegal to plan to commit 277 criminal actions, from arson to copyright infringement."

Copyright infringement.

SILVER LINING: I haven't listened to Queensryche's glorious Operation Mind Crime in the last few years. Time to dig it out.

Nothing like retrograde laws and self-serving fear-mongerers to spark nostalgia.

The fight continues, comrades.

So your simply thinking about copying down the contents of the pages from your recent library checkout "How to cook vegetarian meals that won't make you vomit" would soon be a crime.

The copyright part is quite laughable.  Over here media rental shops are still huge.  And guess what, they rent audio CDs for a 100yen a week.  (This is why MD players were quite successful here)
Stronger Than Your Average Deadite

Well, I can save you the trouble of potentially committing a thought crime, the mere title of the book is a lie and nothing would be edible.
