Forum reloading glitch?

Forum pages are loading over and over for me and I am getting this happening on 3 different computers, so it can't just be happening to me...

I go to hit the "back" button and there are 20 instances of the same page.  It's like an online casino pop-up...

This has been going on for about a week or two...  I thought it was an old Vista machine causing it, but I have now seen it on 2 Windows 7 machines too..  All are running Firefox.

Are you running an ad blocker?  I used to keep it disabled here and would try to click a couple ads a day (every little bit helps!), but recently turned it on due to some jackhole advert (for snow skiing) pulling the same sort of reload bullshit.

Adblocker on one of the 3 machines.

Yeah, there is something in the ad scrips that's fucking with my iPhone too. Since we have zero overlap in platforms I guess it's a pretty big fuckup.

What is the actual server bill for this place? Can we just get a number? If we had a number I'm sure we could  Patreon that shit with bonus easily. Is it more than $100 a month? I honestly don't know. Most people who own websites are major proponents of advertising...presumably because it makes them feel like pros or something, and therefore won't give any numbers. They're still hoping some massive Adsense check will make them Kim Dotcom.

However since the official line is "we need the ads to make the site work" but also "if the site doesn't work use an ad blocker" I think we've proven that mail order Russian brides are not a solution.

Btw, I nearly lost this post because of the very glitch we are discussing. I'm logged into Patreon right now.

I'm running an adblocker and not having issues currently. However, like Zeta I would be totally fine with helping to pay server costs if it meant a natural ad free experience for everyone.

I will pay, too. We can do it. Because we can dream.

Btw, I'm glad to find someone else mentioning this issue. On my iPhone I do get the "this page has been reloaded because of a problem" (which...I'm pretty sure there isn't enough active code in this ancient forum software to cause any issue like this so I assume it's the ads) but it also makes typing slower, and occasionally it freezes, and you actually have to close the tab and open a new one, sometimes restart Safari. This is on a forum I've been browsing with no trouble for about as long as anyone here. I let this bubblegum upchuck theme slide but this is a pretty significant issue. It's like Windows 95 here.

Btw, one of my favorite Podcasts moved to a donation model after the ads couldn't cut it. As I said before, a lot of people feel like...grown up or "pro" when they see the same ad for Ponzi schemes and dick enlargers on their own homepage that you usually only see on big time pages like http://www.aztekfanclub.com, but I asssure you, dumping the ads has just as powerful of an effect, only in reverse. Now when I listen to Podcasts with ads, even the really hot shot ones, they just seem like sad pathetic ghetto-grade shills.

Oddly enough I get the reload issue on a few other websites, but never on this one.  I think it must be specific ads?

I am on Chrome on an Android device with no issues.

esteban

Tapatalk on iPhone: no ads, no issues.

I haven't tried the forums via mobile browser or laptop for a long time...I'll check that out this weekend.

As I am reading these responses, in the bottom left of my browser, I am seeing information from Firefox:

"transferring data from www.domain.com"
and
"Waiting for aniview.hs.llnwd.net",  loading over and over and over....

I am sure it is the ads causing this.  In the time it took to read the 4-5 responses and type this out, it has reloaded almost 50 times...

o.pwuaioc

ublock origin ftw.

I'd chip in a few dollars, too, fwiw. I really do not like ads.
