It's been asked a brazillion times, but with Sunteam's le_chet potentially going away soon it would be great to get this chat room going again.

Or use kiwi irc.

They provide a button to generate a widget if someone wants to embed it somewhere.  You can specify the channel/server.

There are apparently a ton of cool IRC plugins for Chrome that I never saw before.

but really, if KiwiIRC's widget can be dropped into PCEFX's forum layout, that would be the most ideal so all you new people can see what it was like when we had a goddamn chatbox on our forum.

yes, having to go to freeforums is why alot of people stopped remembering to go.

having discord is just as segregated, but it seems to be catching on because people were already registered with discord for other crap.

I mentioned putting a widget here for KiwiIRC to click to #pcefx on Rizon.   that would be great if we could have a top level shoutbox again.

2) As a result, more people were unaware of the lameness that happened.
3) Why didn't the organizers of the thing post here? Did they? Maybe they did

Anyways, here's a fantastic example of why having the chat not attached directly to the forum sucks.

Keeping this conversation in the mix is important, because the chatbox was really a way for the community to connect without having to jump to different sites. While I'm sure a lot of the older members wouldn't have an issue jumping to DoxPhile or Paul's site (which hays are numbered), it just makes things confusing and ends up sending people over to facebook.

What I'm trying to say is that not having shoutbox here directs traffic away from the site, and will result in lost revenue for the Admins. If the concern is to monetize this website so that we all can keep enjoying it, then having an integrated chat will only increase revenue through adsense or whatever other affiliates, and help pay the power bill for the server.

Arkhan is bringing up a really good point in the Discord thread. Instead of just giving our web traffic to another site, we should be supporting Aaron's efforts to keep the power on for all of us.

I thought that 1. was the reason this forum is private, so that shouldn't be an issue anymore? 2. I think I remember hearing about that, but I feel that we get plenty of drama even without the chat.
