@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Hello, I need advice on re-lubing / greasing my Duo.  First of all, is this recommended?  I have white lithium grease on hand, which as I am sure you are aware / can see in the photo it has the consistency of toothpaste.  The tube I have was originally purchased for N64 thumbstick repairs, well before I owned this sweet console :)   8oz will most likely last me a lifetime  ^^

I am afraid that this may be counter intuitive to what I am trying to achieve?  The threads of the cylinder motor gear and white gear are small, so wouldn't lithium grease potentially clog these and make them gummy over time?

I have already cleaned the previous gunk buildup on the gears from factory, most of the gunk was on the cylinder gear.  You can still notice traces of the buildup in the photos, it is a dark amber/orange color.  I will probably hit these up a tad more with more degreaser soap.  I'm a bit hesitant to use isoprophyl 91% (will this have a negative affect on the gears?)

These drives are prone to operating 'loud' right?  I am used to this with systems like the Dreamcast where the drive (at least mine) runs very loud.

What do ya'll do?  :P

P.S. I outlined in blue / red in case one area is to be lubed over the other

I'd clean & grease all moving parts, didn't ever hear to avoid certain parts in my time here. I did wind up with a different lithium grease than the stock one you got there from a general hardware store. This stuff: WhiteLithiumEPGrease - comes in a tube also, and boasts 4x the lubrication than regular white lithium grease. It's creamy in consistency.

On duo's I usually lube all the moving parts. On cdrom2 you aren't supposed to do the plastic gears.

+1

for the op, I get your concern about the thickness of the tooth paste like white lithium grease you have.   The original grease was like that, and here we all are cleaning the rails and gears years later and re-lubricating.

I've been using a white lithium grease that is thinner, but then I worry I don't have enough on there lol

either way I think you're fine with what you have
