I seriously haven't had this much fun with a shmupr in a long while. This game is tough! I'm really glad I tried this game out again, cause after playing it, I won't be giving this game up for a very long time.

I also quite like Override, it's one of those shmups that goes unnoticed but is actually a lot of fun.  Most of the games made by Data East for the Pc engine are actually really good, at least I like them, with the possible exception of Drop Off/ Drop Rock Hora Hora.  It's a shame they didn't make more games really, I would have liked to see something from them on CD.

Have you guys experienced games by Data West. Who the hell is Data West??? :-k

The only games I know of from Data West are the Rayxanber series but I get the feeling they may have released something else as well for the Pc-engine, can't remember what it might be though.  I don't know who they are/were but they seem to have been a very small company completely unrelated to Data East.

Actually I am quite sure Data West were also responsible for the Psychic Detective series but I haven't played any of those.

I also played Override a couple of weeks ago and I also thought it was a very good shooter, very fast and nervous. The only thing is that the graphics are a little bit poor at times. Some parts of the game are pretty tough but overall, I didn't find it that difficult (I went up to the last boss, I even finished it but I'm not sure, I don't remember well).

Override is one of my favorite shooters on the engine, although the game is far from being perfect. The graphics are fairly plain but there's a massive amount of action on the screen, almost a forerunner of popular bullet rain games like the DonPachi series! Since I always play with the red shot I have to avoid most of the items in addition to all the bullets, too. Anyway the game is a little too easy imho, it doesn't get harder in the later loops and I think I could play it for all eternity if I had the time.

ANNnyways... Yeah I can't get enough of Override. I've got to the fourth stage so far, and I agree there's a huge amount of action! I haven't continued over and over like this in a game in a long while. It's so funny when I look at it, I just wanted to quickly check out a few games on my LT today then I popped in Override and haven't stopped playing it. I don't know why I am playing on the LT, I have a 42". It's my day off so I'm going to try to beat the game today,, on second thought I think I'll need allot more practice, cause I'm continuing on the first stage.
