@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Quote from: Joe Redifer on 09/09/2007, 03:11 AMThe official Japanese Sega Mega Drive 6-button controllers are smaller than the US version.  I think they have a blue start button.
I got a red-start button 6-button pad with my japanese Multi Mega. The seller only had japanese and North American stuff and the pad is MADE IN JAPAN, so I assume its japanese.

Its the same size as the U.S. pads.

QuoteHere's a Japanese 6-button controller (very worn as you can see by the near-missing writing).  It was the only picture I could find on the internet in my exhaustive 45-second search.  Again, no rapid fire at all.  The MODE switch on both the US and Japanese version is where the "R" shoulder button would be on other controllers.
That image looks like one of the 6-button knock-offs I've seen on eBay.

The one I'm thinking of is like the one in this LaserActive picture, only with Sega's name on it:

Pioneer-LaserActive-Set-FL.webp

It's definitely smaller than the US version and isn't weak like the Majesco version.  You're right about the one I previously posted.  It probably is a knock-off.

I always hated the sound on the Genesis, as well as the controllers, but I owned one for a while.

My favorite games:

Herzog Zwei
Contra: Hard Corps
Kid Chameleon
Strider
Warsong
Romance of the Three Kingdoms II (I actually liked the sound better here than the SNES version)
Bonanza Bros
Flashback
Altered Beast
Castlevania: Bloodlines
Shining Force series
Strider
Golden Axe

One game "I always wanted to play but never got around to it" was TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist.

Keranu

TMNT: Hyperstone Heist is pretty cool, but really easy.

The TMNT game on the Genesis made me queasy.  The SNES version is much better.

Thank you, but I sold all my Genesis stuff last year. The cart would only do 2 things for me at this point: a)take up space and b)make me feel guilty every time I look at it having never taken the time to play it.

What exactly is it that the Genesis does? :-k

hehehe Nice video Joe.   8)

My favourite voices from that list are "You've got another try." from Dynamite Headdy. It just reminds me of something, like a kids TV show or something. The Strider voices are great too. Makes my GBA Strider jealous.  :P

If you have a GBA then you have to get this: "Capcom Classics: Mini Mix"

I don't know how hard to come by this package is. I found mine at Future Shop last year...

....haha. It's not hard to find at all and it's not expensive. http://search.ebay.ca/capcom-classics-mini-mix_Video-Games_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQfromZR40QQsacatZ1249

It has Strider, Mighty Final Fight, and Bionic Commando (woot!). Bionic Commando is really why I bought this package ,but Strider is cool and it has the password feature. Final Fight isn't all that bad either for mindless fun.  :)

Here's a review I found for it:

Best part was the beginning with the Vapor Trail music. You should do more videos with Vapor Trail music. It's definitely top 3 Genesis music of all time. Only problem is the short track list  :-s

Tatsujin, you might want to check out Capcom Classics Collection Remixed for the PSP, despite the title, nothing has been remixed, there are perfect arcade emulations of Strider, Bionic Commando and Final Fight.

I dunno if it was released in Japan, but PSP is region-free, and you seem to speak English, so importing should be no problem. ;) That is a point though, these are the American versions of the games, and you can't change the language, so if there's any censorship, you'll have to deal with it. :(

It also has Quiz And Dragons, which I absolutely adore, btw. Oh and freaking VARTH! AND 3 WONDERS! As you can tell, I love it. ^_^

The only bad game on the disc is the original Street Fighter, damn that game is SHIT.

And just in case you didn't read this, I sent it to you via PM, because this is a UMD that you MUST HAVE.

That's cool.  :) But the NES port of Bionic Commando pwns the arcade version.

Well, I've never played but Yie Ar Kung Fu, but Karate Champ would suck if it weren't for the fact that you can do bad John Travolta in "Saturday Night Fever" impressions (it's hard to put into words, but if you've played the game, you know what I mean), and the announcer. "BE-GIN!" "POIK!"

In my opinion, Street Fighter graphically crushes both Yie Ar Kung Fu and Karate Champ and was really a great step forward for fighting games as a whole.

The gameplay is definitely not as good as Street Fighter 2, but there is still a lot to like about the game, and it's still my favorite
