Ahoy thar!If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.I recently managed to get hold of a PC engine Duo R,I was well chuffed! Alas my excitement was shortlived as I can only get it to play in black and white.Ive tried it on three tvs that im pretty sure are all ntsc and no luck. The av wire looks a bit knackered, but i havent got any others that i can use to check if its that.So yeah what do pipples think is my problem?Do i just need a new av wire?Or a new console?I hope it aint a new console as i have no way of getting me monies back or being able to afford a new one.Playing pc engine games in black and white is poo!I want colour please!

I know you said you've already tried several TVs but it really does sound like an NTSC thing. What make of TV were they?

If it was a pal/ntsc thing though wouldn't the picture roll though?  It sounds like a shitty cable to me, not the system.

No I used to have a crappy old TV that was supposed to be NTSC but would only display black and white on the PC Engine. Perfectly clear picture, just no colour.

50hz/60hz differences cause the rolling; PAL/NTSC colour encoding causes the lack of colour.  Different TVs support frequencies/colour from different countries to varying degrees, so the mileage on your specific TV may vary.

Judging by your post, Tmo, you're in the UK, so how can you be sure you're testing the system on NTSC TVs?  They're not exactly standard items for sale over there.

haha, that happened to me too, I had a white PCE, where not on the AV wires, and got picture from TV tunning.   I've Got a new Sharp LCD TV,, but for Some reason; I can only tune it to BLACK and White,, I thought it was the NTSC / PAL thing,, but it wasn't.. No idea why, but when Plugged my PCE to a Old Old crazy TV "also Sharp", All coloured again.   Well.. again, No idea.. but do try it on other tv's.

With some LCD tv's particular if you in uk/eu  what ever A/V you have connected your pc engine/duo up to.. in the A/V set on your TV... some of these you might need to select eith PAL, NTSC or SECAM for the signal or Auto ..

If you have this option try it.  I think you can manually do this for AV1, AV2 etc..
