Hehe. Fun thread. I'll have to put Galaga 90 in tonight and try my best to beat ya.  :)

I'm glad I opened up this forum......it will motivate me to play my Turbo games more as I've been really lax in that area (mostly playing 360 at the moment).

Sorry guys, but this forum is not rad.  It's totally tubular!

CrackTiger

Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Ceti Alpha

OK. I just beat Galaga 90 on difficult using all the dimensional warps. Oh, except the first one. I always forget to leave behind a couple of the bugs on the first two levels so that I can grab some capsules.  #-o  Oh, and I also used the "galactic dancing" secret for extra bonus points.

So, my final high score was 1 081 850.

Other stats:

Shots Fired: 2903
Number of Hits: 2252
Hit-Miss Ratio: 77.5%

Now the warrior must rest hehe

Hehe. Fair enough. At the moment the best I could do is take a digital picture or video of my high score. I really don't want to have to play through it right now, but I'll do it again if need be.  :) Though the game is definitely easier than its arcade counterpart it's still fun to play.

OK, as I was writing this I realized that I left the game on.  [-o< hehe. I really didn't want to have to go through that again right now. I had to start over halfway through my first attempt tonight. I thought the game froze, but my controller just fell out of the port.  ](*,) I'm a real noob sometimes.

Here's the screen shot:

Hehe  :) Sorry for the size of the screenshot.  I just reduced it so it wasn't soooo big. But it's still fairly large. I'll try and get it even smaller.  :)

OK, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I can either get the image uber small, or uber big. I can't get to around 2 inches by 2 inches.  ](*,) I'll keep trying, but at least it's not as big as it was.

Eureka!! I finally figured it out!!!  Again, I was just being a noob with Photoshop.  I forgot to save for web and reduce the resolution to 72. hehe. Worked like a charm.  8)

Actually "saving for web" is the n00b way to do things in Photoshop.  Just take your original image, then go to IMAGE > IMAGE SIZE, make sure the dimensions are in pixels and not DPI or percentage or anything like that, pick a good size and resize it (make sure your proportions are constrained), then go to FILE > SAVE AS... save it as a JPEG on the 7 or 8 setting.  Upload.  Link.

Your current picture is way too small.

Yeah, figured as much. Cus I actually never used that for the website I developed for school last year.  :) I just noticed it tonight actually. I'm not even sure I used it when I finally got the right size. lol I must have tried 10 times doing different things before I got it right.  ](*,) I think by the end of it I just went to Image > Image Size, and made the dimensions 2 in x 2 in and put the resolution to 72 and saved it as a gif.

I think for my score I actually perfected every Galactic Dancing stage, but might've missed just one or two. You really have to be in the butterzone for some of those stages to keep your concentration! So much fun and the music really helps the rhythm of the game! :)

Keranu, you should punctuate your high scores with commas. Makes them easier to read. Just a suggestion...

Suggestion taken 8) . I thought about doing it when I made it, but not sure why I refrained... maybe because the game didn't display them with commas.

Yes!  My high score!  BEAT THIS! 382,970!!!

GalagaHighScore.jpg

Hell yeah!  Actually this is likely not my highest score as I've made it further into the game, but it's the score I achieved playing it one time tonight.  At least I scored better than the homo who only got 20,000 points.

Keranu

Added your score, Joe 8) . I'm about to do what you did and just pull the quickest score out of my ass for any game I see just to use it as a temporary placehold until I acquire a better score. Besides, it makes you look cool because you'll be in the top 5 for at least a short time  .

I think you get more points if you perfect the bonus levels than if you don't move or shoot, because you get the perfect bonus plus all the points of the individual bugs?  That's what I did, I figured it'd help my score.

Yeah, that makes total sense. I've just been using the secret bonus because I just got the game for the Duo and it's a novelty. However, you would really get more points that way and plus it's just more fun to try.  :)
IMG
"Let the CAW and Mystery of a Journey Unlike Any Other Begin"

Ceti Alpha

OK. I've been remembering to collect the blue capsules from the first two levels. I know I've been saying that Galaga '90 is too easy, but let me tell you that by collecting the capsules on the 1st two levels significantly increases the difficulty.   You can basically sleep through the game and beat it otherwise, but man now I have to fight my way through...especially nearing the end of the game. I have yet been able to beat it actually on this difficulty. I can make it to the boss, but he moves much more quickly and throws waaayy more bugs at you.

So, even though it's still easier than the arcade, this revelation (at least for me ) is great news. I love a challenge, and this is going to provide me with many more hours of fun.

Hopefully I'll be posting my new highscore soon.  [-o<
IMG

Joe Redifer

Oh... maybe I'll get a higher score if I don't collect those.  I always collect them.  I figured they were some sort of bonus.

Ceti Alpha

QuoteOh... maybe I'll get a higher score if I don't collect those.  I always collect them.  I figured they were some sort of bonus.
Well, it's hard to say, but I would think your score would be higher if you do collect the capsules. The harder the enemies, the more points they give you. You can rack up some serious points on the most difficult route. Just beating the end boss is the hard part.  ](*,) The last formation of ships before the boss is super hard as well.  ](*,) I just tried the damn thing again and couldn't beat the boss. It is hard.

But I'm going to keep trying.  :-({|=

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!  =D> I can't believe I've missed that until now!  :-$ Nice one.  8)

Ok, I gave it one last go tonight when I should have been sleeping. hehe  #-o I'm going to feel it in the morning....wait...it is the morning.  #-o

But it was worth it in the end. I beat Galaga '90 on the most difficult route, which I believe was the cause for the higher score, as I still going after the secret bonuses in the challenging stages. heh. My next mission is to perfect the challenging stages.   Oh, and let me tell you that it was down to the wire. I just barely made it past the final boss. You really need to make to the boss with the triple-ship, but making it past the final wave of giant bugs that come after you right before the boss without getting hit is so hard.  ](*,)

Final score: 1,252,560

I don't think that is necessary.  If a person has beat their own high score, just replace the old one with the new.  This is the "High Score" forum after all...not the "High Score I Got Previously" forum :P
