I know, I'm just kidding :). From what I hear the Arcade cab has a slightly higher difficulty level, and is a bit different.

oldskool

There are some differences we noticed, and yes it does seem QUITE difficult, we cannot get past the second stage of levels!

Overall the graphics/sound are better than the PCE/TG16 version.  Also, in between some stages you see some hand drawn cartoon looking guy that we can't tell what he's saying to you.

Roy, I think you need to add to this thread?

Ok, I'll add a little.  I do like the old school feel of the cabinet vs. Galaga 90 alot better.  The sound and graphics are pretty similar but once again the feel of playing the arcade just can't be beat.  Responsiveness of the Turbopad vs. the arcade joystick is night and day.  Its much easier to move the ship back and forth with the Turbopad whereas the arcade joystick seems sluggish and delayed in comparison.  I think the biggest difference has to do with the monitor vs. a television.  The arcade has a vertical screen which leaves your shots having to go SUPER far to hit your target thus making timing WAY more important than it is on the console.  I really think this is where the difference in difficulty comes in.  On the console the screen is more square, so your shots have less of a distance to go before you hit your target.

There are some differences in the gameplay as oldskool noted.  There is a little alien looking guy that makes some comments which I still can figure out.  Also the Galactic Dancing has some differences in targets and the directions they travel.

The other thing that makes the console easier is the use of the Turbopads turbo switches.  It's much much easier to just sit there and hold the button then having to mash the arcade button 3475893475983 times each game.

This will give you an idea of the differences in difficulty.  So far the highest score anyone has gotten on the arcade game was 149,740.  As I sat down in my first sitting of the console Galaga '90 my score was 232,060.    Almost 100,000 points higher and it was the first sitting of the console vs days and days of playing on the arcade.  Basically the console is easy mode compared to the arcade cabinet.
All is well. :)

Ceti Alpha

Yeah, the arcade is definitely much harder than the TG port. I haven't cleared the arcade '88 yet, but I've cleared the TG port many times. Though, the TG port has essentially taken over as my Galaga '88/'90 default choice to play. Probably because it is easier makes me want to play it over the arcade. That doesn't mean the TG port isn't difficult - I'm stressed out playing that game from the moment I "Press Run" to the moment I finally destroy the last boss. It just wasn't designed to eat you quarters. heh I throw on the arcade version once in a while, but playing the TG/PCE port is honestly a much more enjoyable experience. Plus, graphically and in terms of music and soundfx, the TG/PCE port is extremely close to the original. It would have been cool if the developers included an "arcade mode" with a narrower screen, but I say that about every shootie that doesn't have that option.

Gotcha. So we have a visual and physical advantage.

LMAO. Gotcha. Some old-schoolers prefer it; not myself regarding this game.

Today in the mailbox i got PsychoChaser,Browning and Klax for the PCE. :D

Zeon

Today was a good day:

IMG

Started off by picking up Toejam and Earl: Panic in Funkotron, and No one can Stop Mr. Domino at Electronic Discount Sales in Arlington. Then on the way to the mall to get some new glasses I spotted a store called "Entertainmart" and had to see what it was all about. Turns out they have a HUGE separate partition of the store for selling used games of all ages. Tons of stock, excellent prices, and the employees were very knowledgeable and friendly. I was amazed as this is typically a rarity in used game stores nowadays.

Anyways, they had quite a few boxed snes and nes games, I picked up Burai Fighter, Power Blade, Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu, Silent Assualt, Raid 2020, and Metal Fighter for $5 each, mainly ones I didn't already own, though I was tempted by a boxed Zanac. As I walked up to the counter, I noticed a lot more nes boxes behind the counter. It turns out they were all boxes for games they did not have. I then asked if they would sell them separately, and the guy said I could just have them for free. I was amazed, as most stores and employees would sooner throw away stuff like that than give it away. So I scored the rest of those nes (and the Perfect Dark box) for free.

Almost all of them have sleeves in em, many have photocopied manuals, some have originals, and a lot have extras, posters, Styrofoam inserts, etc. All of the inserts are crisp and mint, looks like they have never been opened/unfolded. Unfortunately they are all former rentals from a place called The Pharaoh Shop in Arab, Alabama according to many of the stickers on em and the carts, so they are far from mint. Most have pretty bad sun fading, and you wouldn't believe all of the stickers I already pulled off prior to that picture. Apparently that store was nuts for sticking 50 stickers on every game. Still they are in pretty good shape considering they were once rentals, in fact the labels on the carts have zero dings or scratches. Kinda like no one ever rented them.

Finally after that, while my mom and grandma were at Petco, I checked out the Movie Trading Company next door. Best selection on games of any Movie Trading Company I have ever been to. I picked up Kung-Fu Master, Airlock, and M.A.D. for the 2600 there for $2 a piece, and Rocket Knight Adventures for $3. They had a buy three get one free deal going on with the games (and my god did they have a crap TON of different 2600, genny, and n64 games so I can see why they would have such a deal) so I got one of the 2600 games for free.

All in all a good day indeed.

Fu'un Kabuki Den, presumably another variation of the instruction manual cover.

Mine doesn't look like that.

Just made my first Risingstuff.com purchase, which is Famicom Rockman 5. All of a sudden I'm thinking it's worth it to get loose Famicom Rockman cartridges straight from Japan.

eBay is damn ridiculous with those prices when they're off japanese soil.

It's the Kabukiden demo disc which comes with the capsule preview.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

GBA ($8) and GBC ($2.50) games both got here with semi-crushed boxs, I managed to pop the tops ups and make look better, but the back right corner of Mario Tennis is Crushed....I believe the P.O. is due to blame on these cause the guy double bubblewrapped and shipped in double sized box, although the shipping box still managed to get crushed.....
