Dreamcast won't put up video on my LCD tv

Is there any reason why it does this? It's going into one of those multi system switch boxes.  My Gamecube and PS2 use the red/white/yellow cables and go into the box, and S-video goes out of the box into my TV and those systems work, but by SNES and Dreamcast, using the same type of cables, won't show video on my LCD.  Why is that? I figure the Duo I should be picking up soon will be the same way, and I want to play video games on my dang tv...what's up?

It sounds simply like your tv wont sync with the video. You need to give more info though, like what type of tv it is. I recommend you figure out your tv model and google it,and see if there are others complaining about similar situations and see what they did. In all honesty though you are prob better off throwing down a extra 150 bucks and buying a crt based TV as a spare for the older stuff.

The first thing you should do is see if your DC and SNES will work on your TV when hooked directly to it. This will tell you if the problem is the switch box or not.

If they still won't work then you either have a two broken systems or a POS TV. My vote would be for the latter from a purely statistical standpoint.

There was a problem in the mid 90s when for some reason the Playstation wouldn't work with a lot of Zenith TVs. Maybe we are seeing a new version of that.

I fixed his problem last night.  He is using a cheap switchbox that doesn't output the composite video to its svideo and he is only using a svideo out.  Every system he has hooked up but the two that don't work are using svideo into the switcher.  The cheap switcher only has a svideo cable going to the tv..

Yep, hooked up a regular video out cable from the output section of the switcher into the back of the tv so now I can play bother SNES/Dreamcast setups as well as the PS2/Gamecube.  Didn't even realize that, I forgot I was using one of those universal Xbox/PS2/Gamecube cables that hook into all 3 systems, but was using the S-video for video instead of all 3 of the red/white/yellow cables.

Dark Fact

Hooray for fixed problems. :D If it wasn't for Missa fixing your problem, I would've recommended a decent Composite/S-Video converter box. :)
