Previous pcengine-fx.com member Atr3yu just sent me a rather smart ass question (if you even want to call it that) on one of my eBay auctions, which had he just bid and shut up, I would have been fine with, but I guess some people like being permanently blocked from bidding on my items. Besides, anyone that blatantly has 2 IDs and advertises them as such, as one for buying and one for bidding with no specific reason, is a reseller in my book, and that is exactly what he is. Besides, his behavior over here prior to his departure rang rather close to being that; those are more than my own words. If I wanted to deal with such comments, I would open up a pawn shop.

Dear quoth09,

Was going to bid but don't want to piss you off. Good luck with the sale and sorry about all this non-sense and I mean good luck on the sale this is a nice game I had been looking for

Don`t really see where he`s being A smart ass there. If he`s sending you harassing  emails or trying to derail your auction, that would be different.Im sure you would of canceled his bid anyways,if he did bid on it.

I don't know. After all the bs Atr3yu pulled, the very idea of him sending him a pm is screwed up in my book. Not just that, the fact the guy is mainly just wheeling and dealing on forums, and blatantly has a buyer and separate seller account to sell shit shows hes basically trying to be  a upstart reseller. One of the games he was trying to get from me he just sold. Pretty much on par habit with him it seems, just buying up whatever he can that he sees cheap on ebay or forums, doubles, triples, ect of stuff he already has or even doesn't currently own, and try to push it back off on forums for profits. And if that fails, then ebay it for considerably marked up profits. Got no real problem the ebay idea, but I don't give 2 fucks for the fact he tried it on the forum through dubious means (lying, misrepresenting value, ect).

Indeed.  I suppose some people just can't resist the urge to stir up drama.

Yea I don't think his intent was to be a smart ass, nothing he said implied that to me other then maybe the lol at the end. The thing is though he simply shouldn't have said a word, and left things alone. Really if I was Quoth, I wouldn't have even wanted him to bid on anything due to the prior issues. As I see it any further dealings would just be asking for trouble, esp with the new useless feedback policy.

Not trying to derail the thread here, but the new feedback policy doesn't seem like that bad of an idea to me.

A buyer can still leave negative feedback to a seller if need be. A seller can only leave positive feedback for a buyer.

Once the buyer pays you in a timely manner, there's no reason not to leave positive feedback. If the buyer wins an item and doesn't pay (happened to me a few weeks ago) then you file a non-paying bidder on them and they get a strike, and you get credited for what you paid to list that item so you can relist it for free.

I don't see the problem.

This is where problems can come about. For example, in the past I have sold custom built computers on ebay. I actually had a couple of people once try to blackmail me out of money or extra parts after the computer arrived. One case in specific was where I shipped out a Athlon 64 3200+ computer with a modded Radeon 9700 Pro that had a heat pipe cooler installed. The guy claimed the cooler came completely off during shipping, but he didn't notice, powered up and fried the card, and blamed me and wanted me to refund him around $100.00 back or he would leave a negative. Thing is though, 1. the heat pipe block was bolted on, it wouldn't have come loose. 2. When asked for pics, he couldn't provide any to show me this damage. 3. The computer case had a large side window. It would have been impossible to miss something like this as the cooler was quite large. 4. The cooler would have made alot of noise as the case was being taken out of the box.

I had a couple other cases like this, which is why I stopped leaving feedback first when a buyer paid. I also had something like this happen when I first started selling on ebay, when some guy got a bulk lot of laserdisc from me, stated after it arrived he was unhappy with the lot, but would be happy if I gave him for free others I had up for sale. When asked for pics to prove there was issues with the items, the guy folded and gave up. There is plenty of bad bidders out there that are more then willing to pay, because once they do and the item is shipped, they have their foot in the door to pull scams, blackmail, and paypal fraud. Just ask Nectarsis about that one. Due to the ability taken away on the sellers part to leave truthful feedback, the possibility for scams like this has risen. Sure you can still leave a detailed feedback, it just wont reflect on the persons rating the way it should. Simply means anymore sellers will have to be more careful and actually read the bidders feedback statements, not the numbers.

Here is the problem...

I bought a HD from a guy, paid within minutes of the auction close.
He relisted it the day after I bought it.
He sent me a tracking number for the item 2 days after that.
He filed against me for an unpaid item 1 day after that
Ebay asked me if I agreed with the sellers version of the story that I was a bum buyer and that the seller was being kind to me, to let me back out of the transaction.
I told ebay this was untrue and the closed the unpaid item dispute automatically as soon as I didn't agree with the seller and they found in the seller's favor and they refunded their listing fees.  Then they sent me an mail a day for a few days telling me how crappy of a person I was to back out of the transaction and how when I win an auction or buy it now, I am entering into a legally binding contract with the seller.  And that what I was doing was illegal.
I had been talking to ebay every day and I finally got them to look into the matter, they found that I did pay for the item, but that they were not going to change their origional judgment.

The new system is 100% broken.

Edited to add:

According to ebay sellers can leave negitive feedback, they just have to do it through the dispute console and ebay itself is supposedly the one who gives the negitive feedback.  So sellers can file unpaid item claims after 4 days of being paid, with ebay itself saying they were paid, and the seller can insist on giving the buyer negitive feedback, to which the buyer has little recourse.

Missa, I'm not sure how your story relates to the new rules restricting sellers to only leave positive feedback.

I think the new rules are to eliminate the "feedback hostage" that sellers LOVE to do.  They refuse to leave feedback until you do.  If you have a bad experience in any way and leave them neutral or negative feedback, they will leave you the same and bitch, whine and complain... even if you paid in full in a timely manner and completed your part of the bargain.  If, for example, I purchase Out Run 3D from a seller and he sends me normal Out Run instead and refuses to replace it, should I get negative feedback as a buyer just because I left the seller negative feedback?  That whole "feedback hostage" crap was definite bullshit and artificially inflates scores because most buyers are afraid to leave anything but positive.  Some sellers even state in their listings that "Positive feedback will be given when I receive positive feedback from you".  What assholes!

The best way to eliminate the feedback hostage situation would be to not allow either party to see the feedback until both have left it or time expired.

The thing I am replying to is about how the new system is great because of how the unpaid item system works.  I am saying it is pure crap.

This is what they should be doing exactly.

Quoth, maybe he was being a smart aleck with that message to you but there was also an apology in there.

As for the comments on ebay, one thing about the new system that I find rather silly is that seller's can't leave negative feedback for buyers who don't pay.

I tried to sell a pair of Timberland boots for my roommate, and the winning bidder ended up being a 0 feedback bidder who never sent payment.

I went throught he unpaid item dispute, etc, but when I go to leave feedback my only option is positive. That certainly seems stupid to me, but I agree with what Joe is talking about with regard to feedback hostage. In fact, I think I'll go take advantage of that because there was a PS2 game that i won recently that was advertised to come 'with case and manual' but the case was a generic dvd case, and the disc itself had a difficult-to-remove rental sticker on it, which was not disclosed.

why must people start such BS? speaking of that a certain someone returned to youtube... :-({|=
although i only hope he doesn't start crap with anyone here.
