Brandon Sheffield also tells me this:

"One thing that was edited out is in the question about the Hudson caravan stuff. The exchange actually went like this:

me: So why did Hudson stop doing caravan games, and turn to Naxat?

him: Hudson did all the caravan games...

me: what about summer carnival '92?

him: ...ARGHHHHHH you're right.

I felt bad for the guy, he kept rubbing his head and exclaiming what a difficult position he was in, because he couldn't remember the answers to my dumb questions. HOORAY FOR NERDS."

Good stuff. Very good stuff.

Someone asked me to explain the difference to him a while back and I said I didn't know either.

Very interesting interview. I always find it funny when certain members of an industry that are getting interviewed by a fan are surprised at some of the stuff they know, namely this:

And that became the Iron Man board, correct?

TM: Tetsujin, yeah. It was only used internally. How could you know all this? (laughter)

Just to clarify because some people have been confused, even though Hi-Ten Bomberman was created on the Tetsujin board, it was never intended for PC-FX, correct? Even though the PC-FX was based on the Tetsujin board.

Tatsujin hardware was even listed in GameFan in a compare list with the other systems as a possible release around the time the PC-FX was out. If I recall correctly it was just a photo of the board, and some specs.

Also this:
If you ever want to do another interview again, think about the old days very hard, because I have a lot of ridiculous questions about specific companies and specific titles and all sorts of weird crap that only I care about.

TM: I'll study hard. (laughter)

I wonder if Takahashi Meijin knows about this forum, or the US fan base in general?

Sensei

I met this guy last year at TGS.  He was selling those little yellow 16-shot things (to count your button presses).  He seemed to be having a good time talking to fans.

If he's there again this year I'll try to ask him some questions.

Tatsujin

he will be there for sure. what would be a hudson booth without him?

damn..i ordered some of those 1st print replica shooting watches last year, but got a sorry letter from hudson 2 month later, that they are already sold out. hope they have some new reprints this year on the start.

Yeah, its being remanufactured. I pre-ordered one from NCS.

Going by the topic of the other duplicate thread,  yes I would buy new Hudson hardware in an instant.  I would love to see what they could do with a modern PC-Engine machine that is as far ahead of X86 Intel PCs with modern ATI/Nvidia GPUs as the PC-Engine was ahead of IBM PCs in the late 80s.

Heck, it doesn't even have to be that advanced, just as long as it has the right software.  I would, in a heartbeat, purchase 'Bomberman HD' if it was a reworked version of the unreleased HI-TEN Bomberman.

I am also anticipating the annoucement of Military Madness 3, especially since, interestingly enough, Neo Nectaris has been named Military Madness 2 for cellphones (as it would've been for TurboDuo in the U.S.).

You're kidding, right?  How is a HuC6280 vastly superior to a 386 (much less a 486)?

"modern pc engine" is the key. I think he's suggesting they'd make a new, modern console or something like that.

I think you need to reread his post.  It pretty clearly intimates that the original PCE was superior to the PCs of its day.  Perhaps he specifically meant the IBM PC (rather than any ol' computer), though it was already six years old.
