Notice I separate "reasonable" and "fair".

Reasonable:  as a seller, expect to sell at on eBay
Fair:  more from the buyer's point of view, a price you feel comfortable with

And in these various states:
- loose, HuCard only
- loose with manual
- boxed and complete
- new!

Well, it's tough to say.  Once games get over the $200 range, I start to get really uncomfortable with the thought of buying them.  That said, I understand just how rare this game is.  But I wouldn't pay more than $250 for any Turbo game.  At least not now.

I was going to reply, but I didn't really understand the post because it wasn't in the form of a question.  Are you asking how much someone would pay in each of these conditions, or are you asking for someone to sell one at a reasonable price?  :)

In the case of my opinion over prices...

I agree that more than $200 is too much for any game.  I even think that $100 is pushing it in most cases, though I have paid that much for Dracula X (even though I think that it's highly overpriced and is extremely common).  In the case of Magical Chase, I'm not too particularly interested in the game.  I would probably rather just pick up a complete Japanese version for about $60 (which is not an unusual price, as I've seen them go for this on most bids, though some sellers try to sell it for $100-$150) and skip the domestic copy all together.  There is nothing to be gained from buying the domestic release, aside from saying that you have the rarest TG-16 game ever released in the USA.

tough call. I think once buzz gets out of a games "demand" [don't even get me started] or collectibility its all over. You get enough dealers who think a game is worth a particular price, or if ONE idiot over-pays on ebay and it gets crazy. I've seen Dracula X with no spine card on ebay for $250+ asking price. They'll never sell it for that, but still. Ebay is both the solution to and cause of all our collecting woes unfortunately. I think the price is called for in rare cases, but I think a MAJORITY of the time "collecible" games are way overpriced. In regards to Magical Chase, hard to say as you never see them pop up much at all, but for all we know there is some warehouse somewhere with a couple thousand of them sealed....you never know. I remember LOOSE NGPC Fasellei's going for $$$, then look what happened after all that stock got thrown onto ebay.

Making a price guide?  :D

I would add my 2 cents, but I don't think I know enough to contribute to this topic.

Not true.  I believe the US release has an extra level, yes?

Which is why I think it's extremely rare.  Estimates of the production run are quite low and I've never seen evidence to the contrary.  Over the last 4 years I think I've seen about 4 or 5 boxed Magical Chase auctions.  That's it.  And some are quite ratty looking.

I don't want to talk about it  :x

Heh, Special Reserve (a UK based game site) had tons of copies back when the game was new. I used to run an NGPC site (which I plan to put back up for historical purposes at some point) and had tons of people buying it for about 30 pounds. Irregardless, now there's tons of loose copies of Faselei and just about every other UK NGPC game floating around. As far as English NGPC games go, the only game that was hard to get ahold of was Evolution Eternal Dungeons.

Its just so hard to answer when they get that high. I'd say it never goes for a reasonable price, so just watch ebay for a month and see if you can catch it for a lower price. Good luck!

Speaking of Magical Chase....

I can't tell you how hard I laughed when I saw this.  This is absolutely INSANE.  Obviously they have their own view of the used Turbo market.

Yeah, just saw that too.

I'd say that $400+ boxed is easily the going rate for it.  The HuCard alone can top $200 and you rarely ever see the box for it.

Heh.  We had a discussion on this auction here:

It *was* $999 originally.

Now that's ironic, missing a post on my own board

I go back and forth on this issue. On the one hand, because some people (not neccisarily in this case) are anal retentive enough to not open there games, then we today get New copies of 10-20 year old games.

Admittedly at the completely overblown price of upwards of $700+, which is plain insanity. The game is good but, there are a million other good shooters on the system and just because its rare doesn't make it gold. Same goes for Bonk 3...I mean Bonks Revenge is a much better title but because their are few copies of Bonk 3 it sells for $100 for the card alone...does anyone besides me see that as insanity.....

Because to me, myself, its pointless. I would take a well taken care of card, with instructions in decent shape, slapped in a blank cd case. I am not picky, and I am a collector of games I want to open up and play, so I will never own....Ballistic, just for the sh;+ of it. Because I have tried that game, it reeks of a$$ and I wont own it. Some will, I don't want this to come off as degrading as it sounds to collectors....do what you do, thats your perogative....its just not my cup of tea....as I have mentioned previously in other threads and on other pages....

What am I talking about, time comes when I have the money to get those games...I will pay what they are asking if its a title I want....I am talking out of my a$$hole....
A dark tide will rise and she will walk again. He is coming.....
