@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Quote from: guyjinI only have the 32X version; how does the saturn version compare?
There is a bit more polygon break up, but there are more polygons overall and the game runs much faster (60fps vs 30fps on the 32X).  Of course the arranged music kicks ass.  Still, the 32X version is very good in every respect and even has a 16:9 widescreen mode which isn't in the Saturn version.

Seriously? I don't remember seeing that in the menus. Also, I only have the cart, so if it said something about that in the manual, i missed it.

Joe Redifer

It doesn't specify 16:9 in the manual.  It is called "SQUEEZE" in the options.  You'll get an anamorphic picture that will be displayed in widescreen on a 16:9 TV.  Notice that only the polygon graphics squeeze, not the bitmapped stuff.

I love VF2 on the Saturn and yes the arrange music is awesome!  and you should get the Fighters Megamix as well for saturn Joe.

Vf3TB was awesome in the arcades although the dreamcast was less stellar and a really bad bug on Shuns stage and having a takarashi or other heavy character makes the boat on the far left of the screen capsizes after a few knocks at that end and the characters float in the air!!! :O

I love the original VF "block" designs and you should try the VF anniversary on the ps2 as well.

VF5 is where its at now and I love it soo much!

Joe Redifer

I do have Fighters Megamix.  I love fighting as the Daytona car!  I have Virtua Fighter 2 on the PS2 (it seems to be the arcade version only) and there is some kind of VF1 deal on the VF4 Evolution disc, but that's just kind of weird.  Why can't these compilations be on the Xbox?  At least that thing supports progressive scan in most of its games and doesn't get stuck on fields when loading in interlaced mode.

Yesterday:

Super Mario Bros. 3 - Famicom
Me and a friend played it. It was decent fun. But we got pissed at the sixth world, where both of us got game over near the end. All levels were reset. The Famicom was turned off.

Today:

Star Tropics 2 - NES
I got this game a a few days ago. It is fun and stuff, but not as great as I remembered it. Definitely not nearly as good as the first game, but still a good game. Too bad the music is really poor though, unlike the other game.

Neutopia 2 - PCE
This game is really simple, but I like it a lot. And the soundtrack is awesome, definitely my favorite for the PCE. I really wish I had the English game though. :(

I've been playing some Bomberman '93 and Bomberman multiplayer with a friend. That's really boring! You can only choose very few stages and the music is always the same! It's even the same song in BOTH games! The SNES Bomberman games are much better - you can even play multiplayer co-op in them. Which rules.

Had some spare time yesterday and put together a Famicom -> Nes joystick adaptor. I needed it to connect a XE-1PRO FC to my NES since I don't own a Famicom. The adaptor works flawlessly so I'm happy now. Spent last night playing a couple shmups using my new joystick.

I subscribed to WOOMB.net and purchased Xak, Undeadline, and Neo Golvellius and every other Compile game listed (yes, I'm Compile fanatic  ). I own the most of the originals so being able to read the manuals in english was a treat. The scanlations of the original manuals were awesome, and so were the translations of the games XAK and Neo Golvellius.

Of all the games I bought XAK was the most impressive, more than Neo Golvellius which was the game that attracted me in the first place. The guys who translated XAK added R800 (Turbo-R) support which makes the game run very fast, hardly seems there's no load times, almost anyway.

About Neo Golvellius, I'm not so sure what to say. I loved playing the original msx1 version but so far this remake feels overrated. Maybe I'm wrong, I need to finish the game before making such a decision.

Have an old buddy over, just played 18 on Neo Turfmasters. I eeked out the win +2 to +3. Made some coffee, gonna try another 18 in a few.

Just beat Ratchet & Clank Future: tools of destruction. One of the greatest games ever made. Extremely fun! Graphically amazing.

I don't remember anymore what I paid for it, but it wasn't that much. Maybe $35?

Either way, you owe it to yourself to get a copy. Having owned and played it, I now can say that I would have paid as much as $100 for it. It's that good.

And, with m1savage's excellent website devoted to the game, you can't go wrong.

Do it. It's awesome. You know it's going to be a kick-ass game when the intro starts with it's badass techno, and the ship takes off with that awesome gating effect!
