Pretty much.  It is like a little back pack for your TG16.

So, I've never seen this item before.

If I was a scumbag, it would be very easy to fabricate unusual items like this.

Lost Monkey, when/where did you get your "Keeper"?

Nice of him to show that he has about 10 of them.
I know. It's shitty either way but showing all of them  just makes it

Good question! I don't remember... Bought it around the turn of the century though... It may have been from a Turbolist member.

It was authentic gear though - however ugly.

From another thread:

Have the old gold and silver age books lost value since the great crash? I don't follow comics but if they have its possible that something similar could happen in the video game genre but I doubt it

Oh we would all know yours are knockoffs by the "Le Turbo Keeper" moniker on the tag ;)

I think their are some parallels, such as people buying Amiibo's or special edition 3ds' just to hold and possibly flip.  But I think that, just like the "actually rare" comics, the "actually rare" games will continue to hold their value.

I've personally toyed with the idea of getting some custom embroidered shirts done with like a Sonic head or Sega logo or something since if you know someone with a machine (I do) and can get the design made (I know how to) it would not be very hard.  I doubt you could sell them though without getting issues from some company.

What's the lowest grading anything has ever gotten from VGA?  I don't think I've ever seen a 7 or lower.  Only 8s and above.
Current want list:  Bomberman 93

I would imagine that people only try to sell the higher rated numbers.  The grading of Video Games is such a reseller tactic I mean I saw some nut selling a Boxed Graded PS2 SLIM NEW UNOPENED!!!!! for $1000.00 RARE!!!!!!

I basically refuse to buy anything graded.

No one has tried to send a still sealed but badly crushed, used as dog chew toy, left in swamp for years crap to get it VGA graded for under 10 and sell it as the rare lowest ever graded game. Make it sound like the closer to a 1, the better.

CrackTiger

I saw a listing for a completely worn sealed SMB that got a 5 or something.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

esteban

NOTE: The reason why we do not see sub-8 or sub-7 gradings is likely the result of SELF-SELECTION, most folks are not going to spend $$$$ to get a shabby item graded. It seems reasonable to expect that most folks willing to pay for an item to be graded will send in items that are at least in "decent" condition.

I'm not saying there won't be some occasional outliers (i.e. clearly delusional fools, or rich bastards) who pay to have shabby items graded.

BONUS POST: The used car industry has been using the euphemism "pre-owned cars" for decades now (I remember when "used" became "pre-owned", it was hilarious to me).

ANYWAY, I feel that the time is right for slimy sellers to start using "pre-owned cartridge"  and "pre-owned HuCARD" and __________.

Actually, the owner was incredibly happy. The guy in question, Paul, had his entire collection stolen. After that, NA helped him rebuild his NES fullset... with a twist. He asked for the crappiest condition, awful carts they could find (a kind of steal this garbage nod). Anyway, it really was a community rallying around a guy that had been done wrong. This joke of a sealed SMB was the cherry on top.

OK, I was wrong about that. It actually is an interesting story (not that this fellow's agony should simply be reduced to an anecdote for my entertainment, but such is life).

UPDATE: For excellent photos of FRONT and BACK of VGA graded box, jump to the last page of posts, MoeDown, the dude who donated the SMB has some humorous comments, in addition to photos.

I am not a member of NA, so I could not find a way to directly link to MoeDown's post. FOR SHAME.

Thanks for the link, the real story behind this makes the sealed SMB far richer and far more intriguing :)

Now there is "Certified pre owned"

CrackTiger

Separate from the interesting story, it shows that VGA will take your money to grade anything. It really is just individual resellers choosing which games to send to VGA and which to seal in protective sandwich bags and grade themselves.

Yeah... I actually considered coming up for that, but man its a long haul. I also had to choose between MGC and the Carolina Rebellion festival next month. A friend hooked me up with a free pair of rebellion tickets, so I couldn't pass it up. It will still be an expensive weekend though.

That's just using Free McBoot on a Memory Card to load a homebrew emulator with ROMs off either a disc or USB stick or HDD.

If you're looking to do that sort of console homebrew emulation I'd sooner do it on a hacked Wii or Xbox360.
