If you really want to send a message, why not send a link to the only System 3.0 card that has sold in eBay's history, which went for $150 with the 4-in-1?
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

I just found this listed
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEC-TurboGrafx-16-Black-Console-With-CDROM-Unit-/140783890548?pt=Video_Games&hash=item20c75fb074

I mean really, the TG16 is cracked the control port is not 100% functional and no cables to go with it and he wants that much. What a joke.
Oh And no system card

True. But, I believe that will send a better message. If sellers receive tons of realistic offers for what games and consoles are worth it may make a difference. I may be being too optimistic here but what's there to lose?

$350???

Makes me sorta glad I snagged my complete SSC 3.0 when I did back in '02. Bought it from a online store for 17 GBP, still have the receipt. Can't remember what it was in USD though. $35 comes to mind... could be wrong. Either way, people these days are nuts, anyone else see another possible video game crash in the near future? :(

CPTRAVE

When it first came out it was like 99.00 with the 3-1 CD or the other option for 69.00 for the Super System card by itself. Mail order only.

Why the frowny face? A crash in this sense would be awesome. These insane prices are for retro stuff only, the mainstream game industry is doing just fine. A crash would mean prices across the board would come back down again. The downside would be a lot less stuff for sale. It's these high prices that are causing people to dig through their closets and get some of this stuff out on the market.

I'll throw a $100 offer at him.  I think that's reasonable.  As for it being MINT CONDITION I would have to disagree.  Check out the thumb crud on the insert arrow.

[EDIT] He countered at $300 with a note saying, "It's extremely rare, what is the highest you will pay for the item?" to which I replied, "It is not rare, eBay sellers just assume it is. I have already sent you my highest offer. FYI, there has been a Super System Card 3.0 relisted multiple times on eBay for $275 BIN. It has never sold, and never will. My offer is the same."

I agree on a crash only because people are getting tired of paying $60 for a game only to see that same game for $30 a few months later. NOT every game released is worth big money and i will only dish out that much for games like Zelda or a God Of War game. But again to each their own.

Ah, an old favorite, Jay/megahit79, with his lucky "$30,000 dollar" lottery of a SNK cart! Didn't think the subject would go back to him any time soon. It seems his sale price is down to $240 from $300, so we've had some kind of an effect on his pricing. Very stubborn fella, though! ;)

80 bucks just for the hucard? I can get it for a quarter of that from another ebay seller.

NecroPhile

Here's my conversation with the syscard goober:

Starting Price - $356.25 BIN
Me: $100 offer - "The last two copies sold for $150 with Gate of Thunder and $285 with a complete TG-CD system and Gate of Thunder, so you're waaaaay off on price for just a 3.0 syscard.'
Gouger: $350 counter offer - "Then you don't want it that bad, and someone else will pay for it."
Me: $93.75 counter offer - "Nope, I sure don't want it so bad that I'll pay three times what it's worth. But who knows - fools sometimes attract other fools, and you know what they say about fools and money."
Gouger: declined
Me: $90.00 counter offer - "It looks like my previous offer was in error. Seeing as this system card is missing the sleeve (is that a frickin' baggie?!?), it cannot be considered 'like new' or in 'mint condition', so I've lowered my price accordingly. Wish me luck!"
Gouger: $300 counter offer - "It's not missing a sleeve or anything. Everything is in perfect condition."
Me: declined (I can't make more counter offers) - "Your pictures tell a different tale, as no sleeve is shown & the HuCARD & case appear in need of cleaning. I don't know what kind of nickle bag you've imprisoned that system card, but I know it's not the proper vinyl sleeve it originally was shipped."

And now I've exhausted my allowed offers.  Damn.  'Twas fun while it lasted.

"The videogame business". Not developing or publishing or retail sales... or playing and appreciating games... just flipping items and price fixing. It's all just business to them, telling people they buy from how worthless their goods are and then turning around and hyping it to all 133t collectors. "Staff" sounds like a lot. If it's at least five people, that's a good four years each. No wonder they're experts on not selling things.

I still can't believe how these assholes actually try to justify their prices, but then turn around and brag about ripping people off for massive profit.

I sell to stores once in a while, and I love the "Well that system has really nose dived lately..." and try to convince you they are doing you a favor by taking it for anything.

One guy offered me a whopping $20 for a boxed chrono trigger and I asked him what he would sell it for...he said $200, right after he said the virtual console has really killed the market.
These guys all feed of each other in terms of driving prices up.
Same store had GameCube metroid prime for $70.
