I find it amusing that the "Shooting Legends" set includes Steam Hearts.  It... doesn't quite match up to those other games.  But I suppose it's legendary in a sense.

What I find interesting is that I'm starting to see PCE Works games show up on Yahoo! Japan Auctions, and they are attracting a lot of bids. Space Fantasy Zone copies are consistently going for over 25,000 yen, and there is a copy of Super Real Mahjong Pantsu edition that is at 31,000 yen right now.

I used to think that Japan was immune to bootlegs, but it looks like that is not the case.

Psycho Punch

Seems like there's little time to get all legit copies of games you want to have, I can't believe it's taking so long for someone else to want a piece of the cake and start doing unmarked bootlegs of high profile games, esp. with tobias showing that people will buy an actual marked one for premium money.

Tobias sold bootlegs like Space Fantasy Zone and Rockman on yahoo japan auctions before making them available anywhere else. They got bid up to thousands of dollars each, as they were presented as a small batch of long lost copies that NEC didn't distribute for some reason. Circus Lido helped make it more believeable. Even when the Sapphire bootlegs were first noticed and he kept coming up with more unbelieveabke stories,  a few people here refused to believe that they were real and kept making posts similar to ctophil's RVGS dream that Punch loves to repost.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

The only good (?) news is when no one knows what is real or fake and the market is flooded, all games should hypothetically be a lot cheaper?  The fakes are at a trickle now, but once that trickle becomes a flood and as printer quality improves, I don't see how anyone would be comfortable paying big money for anything.  I already feel this way with certain systems, I haven't bought a more expensive NES, SNES, or AES game in years because I assume everything on ebay after 2015ish is fake.

Maybe we aren't there with hu-cards yet.  But on the other hand, how could anyone making a box only purchase possibly feel confident it's from the original print run?

Did anyone save the yahoo japan auction? How was Tobias response?

This twat has been listing such trash for months.  It'd be nice if eBay weren't so complicit in the buying and selling of obvious boots, but only criminal prosecution will get them to stop.

He's recently registered here as "shellshock".  I expect there will be lulz.

Looking at his feedback - he has sold a shit ton of those PCEWorks boots at usually triple what Tobias' price is...  I can't believe how stupid people can be...

CrackTiger

It's bad enough that Tobias barely makes a profit and can only offer homebrew/translation staff as much as $1 per copy after he's already published and sold their work without contacting them.

Meanwhile, this crook is getting rich off of Tobias' hard work. Maybe we should set up a patreon for Tobias and let youtubers spread the word to help him out.

The larger a lot, the larger the discount should be.

Unless this is a series of "complete sets" which can demand a premium, there's no way this is worth even a fraction of the asking price. Unless it's sets of complete sets of every console library ever made.

You are right.

And after looking at the seller's other items on eBay, they are clearly out of touch with reality.

Out of touch with reality?  That's my kind of seller.

It's sad to see a store so jam packed full of games.  They must have utter shit prices, more interested in having overflowing shelves than actually selling stuff and making money.

Him calling it 'his collection' several times says it all.

There is a store in my town like that.  His wife got fed up with his video game collection, so he opened a store.  He refers to the store as his collection... He is a decent guy (don't know if he eBays) but I have noticed lately that his prices are starting to get out of hand... He doesn't know Turbo or Saturn too well, so all his Turbo and Saturn stuff is really overpriced.   I picked up a SMB/Duck Hunt to replace one I looted for the case, and it was priced at $29.99.

I think he makes most of his money fixing DS's and on video game related merchandise...

bob

i just asked if he could provide a list of titles.

*IF* somebody was dumb enough to buy this pretty much blind off ebay, i can easily see some of the pricey games being seperated before inventory is transferred to the buyer.   for half a mil, i would be interested in knowing what i am getting.

CrackTiger

For that kind of money, every single item should be tested and their conditions documented and everything verified by a lawyer, accountant and appraiser.

In reality it's probably just some guy offering "a bunch of games".

And too often listings like these are not actually really designed to sell on ebay.  The seller is basically using ebay as a free advertising service to alert others that he is selling a large bundle of stuff.  Any deal that does possible get made will probably be done off ebay and as an in person transaction.

I would be super amazed if he actually does provide galam with a list of what's for sale.
