I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

And not in a bad way... BMW thank you so much man I got this in the mail today! I only had the time to play it for about 10 minutes (I have tomorrow off so I'm going to be diving in full throttle) but I was so impressed, the game is super fast & just is pretty cool to me for a 16 bit game. I haven't played all the shooters yet, but being a big Bonk fan (loved the snes games and of course his turbo work) and now a super Zonk fan I just wanted to give my impression on this. If I didn't get it for free lol I would definitely pay $40 for it

Sparky

ya a great game for sure but i kinda suck at it but it is full of fun and smiles, and you got it for FREE???... well hell that makes it even better :)

TheClash603

I go back and forth on my favorite TG16 game, and this is one of the few that is always in the mix.  Tell there fancy schmancy types they can keep their Soldier Blade...  Air Zonk 4 Lyfe!

NecroPhile

Air Zonk is indeed a great game, especially for a game confined to the constraints of a HuCard.  Since you like it so much, you should definitely check out Coryoon (click here for the Bros. Duomazov review); it's also an excellent cute 'em up (it even uses the same engine), but it's unfortunately quite pricey.

Coryoon is the cute em up of all cute em ups.

Games so legit.

I go =3 while I play it lol

Yes, those are the three options you choose before you select your "wingman" options.

Air Zonk is awesome, it looks really really good on my HD TV with S-Video.  Which kind of surprised me since I didn't think it would.

And yes Coryoon is next on my list too.  It is too cute to not get.

Yes, it's incredible to see so many Air Zonk fans still out there. The game just gives you so many power ups and the awesome presentation is also a huge bonus.

Stick around, there are many more freebies to be had! :D  Right now there's a freebie raffle for the arcade cdrom Sapphire.  Not sure if you had a system capable of playing that yet or not.  (get a duo R and an arcade card! :P)  Keep an eye out though, I've still got a pile of stuff to unload, preferably at no cost.

I'd like to see an Air Zonk remake, now how awesome would that be? Anyone know how well received the game was when it came out at the time?

Heh heh thanks, if I can offer any tips it would be use the card, lightning, and electric beam the most since they work well in a lot of areas and use charge attacks in trouble areas so you can destroy enemy fire and give yourself a clear opening to strike.

Lilgrafx

:D :D :P I just bought the game from a member of the forums and can't wait to play.

The ending changes if you do Spicy mode Alone. I don't know if there's another ending for Bitter mode as I can't even pass the first stage there.

I just got this myself after years of TG ownership. Great game. Why the enormous markup on them? I realize the game was towards the end of the TG life-cycle, but it's going for a rather large amount. I picked up a decent Turboexpress that happened to come with this game, sold the TE for more than I paid for both and kept the game.

It's one of the best games on the system and one of the most sought after, it's value does fluctuate depending on supply in the market though.

Air Zonk is fairly sought after by Turbochip standards and is one of the later titles that doesn't have a hard case. Because the hard case-less games are harder to find completely complete, collectors pay a premium for them as such. Because a majority of Turbo collectors are idiots who don't understand collecting, they still charge and often pay a premium for the much more common loose copies. Since loose copies started advertising for more, misguided "collectors" started charging more for completely complete copies, because logically they are much more valuable, being that much rarer.

It's all part of the anti-logic that has unfortunately spun the Turbo market out of control.

I just went w/ PC Engine version PC Denjin Punkic Cyborgs since it cost less, I'll have to spend the big bucks on Neutopia 2 though so I can play it in English

Unless it has changed recently, Neutopia II in english should be pretty cheap.

It's easier to find Air Zonk for less, complete copies of which I've recently seen sold on eBay for less than $40-50 shipped.

HuCard only copies of Neutopia II seem to be cheap the price really jumps up though if you want a complete copy
