A question about flashcards

So I know about the ever drives for the main 16bit systems, what are other brands worth looking into?

Tips, suggestions?

I don't know about other systems, but there's just two worth considering for the Turbob: gameofyou's card or the everdrive. Both work well and are relatively easy to use; the former holds only one title at a time (and no SFII) but the price is right, and the latter holds lots of games at once but costs more.

The neoflash and tototek ones just aren't worth the hassle.

I have both the NES and SNES Powerpaks and they are excellent. Saving is a bit quirky but not difficult once you get the hang of it. I got them both used/like new on eBay for around $100.

Everdrive for the genesis and snes are worth it.Though if you have the cash a mega-everdrive or the SD2SNES are fine.I don't have a opinion on the snes or nes powerpak though,when i heard about there flaws i avoided them.

I saw that Mega-ever drive. Seems like a really solid product but I'm finding it hard to justify the price when compared to the Everdrive-MD.

The newest entry level Mega Drive/Genesis Everdrive narrows the margin from the deluxe version. Unless you're hardcore into Genesis, there isn't much need to pick the deluxe version over the new basic one.

The Master Everdrive is great, but again only for the hardcore (just stick to the Mega Everdrive to play SMS games).

The Game Gear Everdrive is much more valuable, as no other hardware runs GG games and it has exclusives with fan translations (like Shining Force Gaiden III).

All flashcarts have flaws. The Powerpaks had their major flaws fixed with updates.

I believe that auto-saving was added a while back.

I believe that auto-saving was added a while back.

Well i all ready have a everdrive for the genesis&snes so i'm set.

I am picking up the SD2SNES and Turbo Everdrive soonish. My fiance and I will be going halvsies on the snes one and I'll pick up the Turbo one on my own sometime next year maybe. Can't wait for either!

The Chinese stuff has weird issues, and the Powerpaks are nice but the basic Everdrives are quite a bit cheaper. The only downside is you need to dremel a cart shell or overpay for SAG to do it for you.

By coincidence, I have a Genesis Everdrive on the way, it should arrive today!

This thread inspired me to finally make the cart shell for my Mega Everdrive. I took photos as I went along and will put together a guide.

This thread inspired me to finally make the cart shell for my Mega Everdrive. I took photos as I went along and will put together a guide.

The NES Everdrive is also awesome. I have the NES, SNES, Genesis, and TG16 Everdrives and love them all. Doesn't stop me from keeping my library of real games going at all. They're great for when you just want to fuck around and play a bunch of different games.

I love emu to try out games I may other wise pass on. Nothing beats having the real thing. For me anyway. I want manuals, cases, the whole bit.

I do agree with you Nando, but having everything on one cart is so handy. On the Genesis I have pretty much every game I want for it already, but not having to dig out the collection when I just want to play a quick game of Streets of Rage or something is awesome.

I mean, if I want the full blown Genesis experience I'll grab my model 1 Genesis and Sega CD, find all the cables, plug everything in, grab a stack of genesis carts and go to town. If I just want a quick game of Sonic or Gunstar Heroes I'll just plug the little model 2 up and stick the flash cart in.

That's awesome! This must have changed. When showing the system at MGC, and in an interview with Retro Gamer, the creator stated that the system was the be HDMI only. He must have listened to all the belly-aching feedback. Kudos.
