@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I was running around old shops in HK lately and found something interesting.  I'm not sure if this is rare or not; but it's PCE related and was my first time seeing it. It's supposed to be some CD for "The 16th Year Anniversary of PC Engine."

So I paid around USD 12 for it, and it looks pretty cool;  below are the some pics to show ya all.

Wow, I thought everyone knew about this, I've had it for several years, got it off ebay, I don't recall paying much for it, it's pretty decent from what I recall, it's got a bunch of remade PCE tunes.  I also have a Legend of Xanadu 1 doujin cd, & another cd that has various PC Engine songs remade along with SFC, MC, Arcade, PS1, etc.

Lessee, I'm flippin thru the cd right now, the songs on Super Takahashi are:

1-CD Warning track
2-not sure, it sounds like something that would be in Star Parodia, but, I don't recognize it
3-it's either the 2 minute or 5 minute caravan song used in various games, like Super Star Soldier
4-some of this sounds familiar, but can't quite place it, but it's gotta be a shmup
5-another one that sounds familiar but can't quite place it
6-the 1st overworld theme from Tengai Makyou 2
7-the 1st level of Super Star Soldier
8-sounds familiar but can't quite place it
9-final level of Gunhed/Blazing Lazer
10-the main theme of Double Dungeons(with an Ys'ish sound)
11-the tower level of Valis 3, this one is my favorite on the cd, lot's of guitar n' stuff
12-another familiar one that I can't place
13-from something in Tengai Makyou 2, but, I haven't played the game very far, something very subtle, slow & beautiful

If it has a cd warning track.... doesn't that mean there must be some "he system data" content on there too?  If its just an audio cd then why have a warning? :-k
[Sun 23:29] <Tatsujin> we have hard off, book off, house off, sports off, baby off, clothes off, jerk off, piss off etc

SignOfZeta

I think the warning was probably for nostalgia purposes. After a while the warning tracks got to be a thing you always listened to to see what sort of wacky skits they would perform, or whatever. Since track 2 is audio, its definetly not for the HE System.

Anyway, I've never seen this thing before. I feel kind of left out...

Ahh good point.  Yeah the first time I heard the drac x warning track I lol'd.

Is there a web site that lists the official soundtracks for the PCE?

I can find some by digging around http://vgmdb.net  howerver a search of "pc engine" does not show all!

Thanks

From that last picture I posted,  I wonder if there are such Hu-card ? probably just an Ad... hmm.

Neato - thanks for sharing.  As for the Huey: yeah, it's probably a mock-up, as the label doesn't look right (kinda like a sticker).

Can you make like a high res scan of the cover art and stuff  ?   I like it.
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Same here. ;)

Anyway, are all of these tracks exclusive to this release, or are some (all) of them recycled from previous releases?

AFAIK, they're exclusive, but my knowledge on this only goes so far.  Maybe if I lived in Japan, I'd be more likely to see these doujin cd's first hand, otherwise, I'm at the mercy of ebay......& the internet in general. :P

You can never go wrong with artichokes, squash and/or kumquats, as far as I am concerned.

Where are the VGM gurus? Help me! Should I covet this CD? I see GUNHED on there...

All you had to do was link to this single track:
That's all I needed to hear to want this. :pcgs:

Of course it doesn't hold a candle to the original.

Yes, I thought that was a great track, too. Sounds like the closing credits to a period drama set in feudal Japan aimed at adolescents. :pcgs:
