I there built in memory on this unit?

If so, how do you access it and whats the translation?

Thanks!

Thanks for the website guys!

Is there a complete list online somewhere??? Thanks!

But here's the thing, nothing you posted answered any of my concerns... This thread involves capacitor replacement and I'm not trying to derail the importance of that. You obviously must have misunderstood my posts, because all I am simply asking for is a recommendation on a Multi Meter and to hopefully get some clarification on what the reference "10MΩ impedance" meant... :-s

Definitely a cool thread... So far I read...

1941
Aero Blasters
Ai Cho Aniki
Burning Angels
Dragon Saber
Ordyne
Psychic Storm
Monster Lair
Sapphire
Shubibinman 2 & 3
Toilet Kids
Twin Bee

Any others?

I wouldn't be asking questions if I didn't think I could do it. I'm obviously new to these kind of repairs, but I'm not a stranger to a soldering iron. Any real help would be great!

There are a bunch of different $40 meters HERE on the SEARS site. I am pretty lost when it comes to purchasing one of these, I don't even know what "10MΩ impedance" means. There's 9 different meters ranging from $30-$50. Can someone recommend one on the page? I'm ready to dive into my defective PCE GT and replace the faulty capacitor(s)!!! Some guidance would be much appreciated, thanks!

General Gaming / How it all started...

I still remember the day when I got the call from a dude that was interested in a video game sales ad I posted on the recycler classifieds. I was selling my Gameboy, NES, and Gamegear. He didn't have any money (we were both pretty young) but he did have a Japanese Turbo Grafx 16, something called a PC Engine. Since I wanted a DUO very badly, I jumped on the idea and traded goods. I really enjoyed playing those games for the PC Engine. I couldn't get enough of Shubibinman 2 and Y's. Gosh those were great times. I ended up trading the bundle to a friend later on for a Genesis once the PCE CD player took a dive. After a few weeks I wanted my PC Engine back, half broken or not, but the friend of mine traded it to someone else... Well I finally tracked it down and the system was missing the AC adapter and most of the games were long gone, so I ended up selling it on eBay a few years later. I'm so glad after all this time I finally got an Interface Unit again! I'm glad I'm able to relive those days and I'm completely taken back by how there is such an incredible website dedicated to the system. Life is Good! =D>

Yeah, I cannot really recommend any music but I was listening to the PECFX radio last night and I must say, I am amazed that there is such a thing. I cannot give you enough respect for all of the dedication you've put into this scene! Thanks!

ANNnyways... Yeah I can't get enough of Override. I've got to the fourth stage so far, and I agree there's a huge amount of action! I haven't continued over and over like this in a game in a long while. It's so funny when I look at it, I just wanted to quickly check out a few games on my LT today then I popped in Override and haven't stopped playing it. I don't know why I am playing on the LT, I have a 42". It's my day off so I'm going to try to beat the game today,, on second thought I think I'll need allot more practice, cause I'm continuing on the first stage.

While on the topic of the interface pinout, can a TG16 CD player be used with a PCE interface unit??? Thanks!
#12
Wow! This site has really stripped away much of the intimidation that goes along with the idea of repairing Turbo items. If anyone decides to do a Turbo Express/ PCE GT chart, that would be much appreciated.

Anyone have a good/inexpensive Multi Meter suggestion?
#13
I'm picking up one of those converters for sure. Thanks for the link!!
#14
Episode 7 was cool. That is seriously some awesome work youre doing. Thanks!
#15
The only reason I feel this way is because after telling a friend of mine how awesome the PCE was, my last core grafx suddenly stopped working right after I plugged it into his wall outlet. So yeah, I probably am a little paranoid now. None the less I still can't find a step down converter.  8-[
#16
Well the reason I'm concerned is because it actually states "100v" right on the AC adapter and pumping an extra 20v just doesn't seem all that healthy to do. I'd really just like to be on the safe side and get a step down transformer but I can't seem to find a 120v to 100v anywhere online.
#17
Well I found a complete US hu now just looking for complete US CD. Thanks!
#18
So what about using a PC Engine in the USA. We are at 120v and Japan is at 110v. I don't want to pump anymore volts into my items than I need too. So where do I get an adapter to solve this situation???  :-k

Thanks!

Hmmm looks like I have stop by my local Electronics Shop. I hope I can figure this out. I've never done anything like this before, but I'm pretty sure I can figure it out... hopefully :D Thanks!
#20
Well I opened it up very carefully and checked it out. Nothing stood out as burn or broken. Still no luck...

I seriously haven't had this much fun with a shmupr in a long while. This game is tough! I'm really glad I tried this game out again, cause after playing it, I won't be giving this game up for a very long time.
#22
Ok well I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm going in  :-k I hope I can fix this thing somehow.
#23
So I take it this is not a common problem?
#24
Yes, I am using PCE cards. I also tried using the TV adapter and nothing happens either.  :?
#25
I just purchased a PC Engine GT and the screen turns on but it is blank and won't play any games.

Is there a fix for this?  [-o<
#26
I am interested in purchasing these 2 games. They must be complete and at least in near mint condition.

Thanks!
