@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I have wanted to play Ys ever since it was first released, like, 15 years ago....
And now (supposedly), it's being released on my friggin' birthday.

 Couldn't be more appropriate.

The pessimist in me is expecting something to happen to screw this all up. I'm betting that my internet craps out for some reason on Monday.

By the way, how exactly are we supposed to pronounce the name of this game? I always say "Wise", but I've heard other people say "Ease".

Virtual-Turbo.com is shutting down, as its owner feels the lack of TG-16 games on the VC is likely to continue....
This depresses me, as there are so many more Turbo titles I would like to play.

And Nintendo is really annoying me with the terrible job they've done lately with the Virtual Console, in general. this Wiiware crap just doesn't appeal to me.

 Anyone else feel the same?

 Crap....
If only I hadn't already blown my economic stimulus money.

The Gamecube was actually one of my all-time favorite consoles....
The games weren't very numerous, but the ones I had were among the best I've ever played.

And I never really liked Super Mario Land.

I totally agree about the colors....
When I've tried to explain that to others, they've always looked at me like I was insane or something.

Glad to see someone else gets it.

I used to love the TG-16 around the early 90s....
I got on board late in the game -- the system was only 100 bucks by the time I ordered one from Sears.

Since I was only about 11 or 12 at the time, I was very limited in what TG-16 games I could get; never even tried a CD game...until years later, when E-Bay, and adulthood,  made all things possible.

E-Bay has also enabled me to get ahold of a TG-16 once again, as well. My original Turbografx was smashed to bits by some jerk who burglarized my home when I was about 14.

I STILL would love to try a Turbo Express....

While Bonk's Revenge is vastly superior to Bonk's Adventure, I still think there's value in playing both....
That way, you can see how the series progressed from the first installment and beyond.

 Thanks, folks....
Sure enough, I had somehow missed the shield I needed. I went back, got it, and beat Dirth on the first try.
#9
I have fought the main boss, Dirth repeatedly, and have died several times....
Here's the thing: I'm not sure if I ever got the Sun Shield, which an old man warned me I'd need to face Dirth.

First of all, is it possible to defeat Dirth without the shield?
And secondly, is there an easy way I can find out if I even have the shield?

 Thanks for any help!

(By the way, I'm not sure if this forum is even intended for people to always be asking for help in games like this. If my repeated threads of that nature are inappropriate, just let me know. My apologies!)

 I still haven't beat it....
I just slowly plug along, resuming my game for 5 or 10 minutes at a time on the VC.

My God, this game has a lot of cheap deaths.
#11
 Heh....
I actually had Talespin back in the day.

And I LIKED it! I found the ending, in particular, to be inspiring.

Of course, I was only about eleven at the time.

I thought it was absolute crap the first few times I played it, but have since found it oddly soothing....
You can just sit back and mindlessly play it, being slightly entertained, but not emotionally involved.
#14
I can't believe how much memory this game uses....
Well over 200 blocks. Nintendo really needs to address this lack of a hard drive.
#15
OK, so there's a point about three levels in, where you encounter a cliff....
At the edge of this cliff is a springboard. If you jump on the springboard, the game sends you back to the previous level.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and can anyone tell me what I'm supposed to do here?

 Thankee!

 Bah!
I still can't seem to get that damn code to work.

And, yes -- I too have come to the conclusion that Bravoman is impossible without the cheat code.

I've been waiting for months for Ys to be released on the Virtual Console....
I never got to play it back in the day, and I can tell that it's exactly my kind of game.

WHY, NEC, with all the delays?
#18
 The delivery business is WONDERFUL....

Anyway, thanks for your answers. I suspect that I may be doing something wrong in entering the code. The "Continue from the exact spot where you died" code works for me, so why wouldn't the other one?

By the way, it IS basically impossible to beat this game without the continue code...right?
#19
I know it's a shot in the dark, but....
I was wondering if anyone here happens to know much about Bravoman -- in particular, the VC version. See, for the life of me, I can't get the infinite continues code to work. No matter what I do, it just won't work, even though I believe I'm following the instructions. Can anyone help, or at least verify that it works on the VC?

Am I supposed to get EXACTLY 10,000 points and then die? And am I supposed to do this on my LAST continue to get a true game over, or can I do it with any life? Do I enter the code on the screen where Doctor Bomb tells me I have X-number of continues left, or do I wait until it resets to the title screen?

And I'm using the Gamecube controller. The Z-Button translates to the Select button on the TG-16, right?

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.
