2 Dans 1 Convention?
2 dans but 2 conventions
Dan Loosen does MGC  and I do VGS
times you can see me head up the jagfest section at mgc but not this year.
this year all my consternation is on VGS. as mentioned before for me to come mgc this year
I would have to take mega bus which means cutting down what I normally bring. cost for travel and hotel was also a factor.

went to see Home yesterday in 2D pretty decent movie even has a moral at the end

Do you even read books? Your English is so bad it's giving me a migraine. Looking over your post I get the impression you don't read or write much of anything. That or you said fuck all in regards to basic grammar skills and just decided to put post together using a tablet with one arm tied behind your back.
if you can't say any thing nice don't say any thing at all.
is it necessary to drop f bombs I have find it rude.

I have a cousin with downs and he types as bad as he speaks ,but I don't put him down for it.

I'm interested in the system but like every body I'm in wait and see mode.if its good great if not at least they tried. I have problems to worry about like certain trade show in IL (which is why you won't see me at MGC,because of cost and other issues).
I don't have vista or do I desire one.
have 3 other projects as well, a 7800 and jaguar game being planned thanks to basic compiler languages as well plans retooling my first Batari basic game for the 2600.
plus I have work on the releasing the past vgs programs and the jagfest issues and not to mention work on the jagfest 10th anniversary issue with a jaguar price guide.
Did I mention I'm still unemployed but I'm in no hurry to look for a job in retail again.
so go ahead talk amongst your selves, and if you want to kick me out of this forum fine I belong to others.

its called marketing, getting the attention of the public before the release . movie companies been doing it for ages (trailers) not mention game companies been doing as well announce the product before the release ( a certain company comes to mind did a 10-10-10 ad for its system)
Wrestling promotions been doing it as well for big events ( JJ's Global Force Wrestling announced a show vegas even before they got the whole roster set or a tv deal)
#6
all I'm saying don't diss it until you you see it.
or in more simpler terms : don't judge the book by its cover.

I didnt really think you did, i just wanted to prove this post wrong.
funny dude,  as I said I have nothing involved with besides interest. retro vgs sounds  like good thing
and despite what I said I'm also in wait and see mode like every one else. would be interested what kickstarter project they do.  annoyed by others on this subject maybe, its prob because they are putting it down before launch. remember they put down great inventors before they came out with their inventions like television and now we have gone from crt to led from 9 inch to 60 or 70 inch tvs

Quote from: galam on 03/30/2015, 05:36 PMHe has money in the project someplace
No I do  not, its not connected to my show(VGS) or any thing like that the only money I have invested in it is 8.00 for the clear cart case. thats it. so this is my final word
#9
looks good, too bad jagfest might have presence this year at mgc, cost and other issues made me decide not to come. (if I took megabus I would have to downsize what I would like to bring, and that to me wouldn't be worth it for me(cost wise: rt megabus, cost of blueline cta,and shuttle plus hotel not worth value) instead I'll be work on vgs details more  as well as plans for an upcoming Atari week/ Atarimania event.

*reminder: VGS is all in one room this year this means tubofest is also in a room as well, cost of adding second room was too big to include*

they can't clone any internals to the jaguar something about atari I think even though it open market.
again listen to the podcast he tlaks about the cost wise of making a new mode and getting the jag mold.
the system is new but the games it self are based on retro games.
the fact all games go back to retro: ie tempest evolved to tempest 2k to tempest 3k and so on.
#12
none at all, just love that its retro (and despite the system name it has no connection with my show)
retro is what started video games before it was retro,  if it wasn't for the likes of atari, intellivision or nes, we wouldn't have next generation systems.
#13
listen to this podcast with mike  why he decied to use jag cases. and other stuff and then decide if you should diss it or not. http://www.allgengamers.com/home/2015/3/3/episode-190-the-retro-vgs.html

all you guys are putting it down before it starts
#14
why the jag mold?
Simple because it cost more money to make a new mold from scratch.
by Mike NOT-THAT-Kennedy buying the molds for jaguar console and carts it saved money.
take in mind the following:
this is a whole new system only the cases will have jaguar look.
I didn't need a console case but I ordered a cart case for my skunk flash cart
btw: they sold 150 clear jaguar cases and 500 cart cases (which exceeds the amount they planned to sell to help with cost)
#15
the game area is in the middle we are working on that plus we will have tournaments and raffles as well. same plan as in past Edit: we don't usually announce the game area until after mgc ends since most of our gaming area staff is most likely going there.
as mentioned due high costs we couldn't really afford a second room like the past or even larger space
while the room is on second floor its much wider then heron more space.
#16
be sure to check the VGS website http://videogamesummit.net for news still have tables available plus we are still accepting donations even though we not giving rewards for it except for the tfund shirt.
(don't expect more post here by me seeing how the views have been doing compared to other forums)
I do check it every so often if there is reply to this I'll read it and reply if needs to

yeah, from what I heard joe, sean and john are busy with museum and once they get the permanent museum running heard they want cge moved there.
the guys who ran it 2014, the retrogaming round up team, was saying that they might want to start their own like they did in 2010.
I know its a tough task to do, vgs'15 almost didn't get planned because we were getting too close.
since we lost heron point we had to look for a good location and one that suites our needs just glad we found one.
(if threw this topic off track sorry about that)

Yeah, CGE was really big in Vegas for a long time, it seems like it has petered out a bit in recent years though.
I think 2014 was decent show.
you have to remember show organizers do have lives out side of running the show,so planing is delayed because of that.

I like the 7800 wish I had a powersupply for mine those sobs are hard to find.
btw: the 7800 joined the ranks of basic compiler language like batari basic for the 2600
7800 basic:http://atariage.com/forums/topic/222638-7800basic-beta-the-release-thread/
also there's an arcade controller for it(also works on 2600):http://classicjoysticks.com/?page_id=36

yes in smaller room about 3500 sqft instead of 5000 sqft and second room.
I have money saved in bank so I can afford lower price then what it usually cost.
but odds are this might be final VGS. unless I get in contract with egsa softworks to run the show
and I'll handle merchandise rights and website.

here are the links to kickstarter and tfund
Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1361397975/2015-video-game-summit-sponsorship

there's a paypal link on the menu as well as the links mentioned above on the sponsorship funding page

Edit: the Tfund campains ended early (the first one for black shirt was my bad because I put a shorter days the second one for the regal shirt, got disabled by tfund due to copyright with atari being mentioned) remember when kickstarter ends paypal will continue on

The VGS Staff have came to decision yesterday, if we don't reach our goals in sponsorship funding by Dec 23rd, the show will either be canceled or moved to a smaller room.

if we reach our paypal goal then the following add on's will be announced to the sponsorship funding

we had no choice in the matter heron and fairfield had a split in management, heron decied not to rent the meeting rooms to outside people after this year.
so the search for 2015 venue started shortly after '14 show ended
we were in contact with 4 places
best western in hillside
clarian in elmhurst
the westin in lombard(I wanted to keep it in lombard)
and midwest conference center in northlake
best and clair said nothing available for july
westin never got back
midwest conference did get back and said july 11th is available.
so been in contact with them via e-mail and just waiting for them to mail me the initial contract
to look over and sign, planning to stop there sometime this month.
the plan is:if we reach our goal(s) game area will be moved into vendor area
if not game area will be placed upstairs.
thats why were doing a sponsorship funding program and taking names for vendors and attendees to give us a good idea how much is expected. those on the waiting list  will be first to be contacted
about prices first.
sponsorship funding will also help keep cost low as well to vendors and admission

also you want to make the show better, we have started a sponsorsorship funding program
with kickstarter, Tfund and paypal http://VideoGameSummit.net/?page_id=137

that is why you always check the place first before jumping the gun.
why do you thinking I'm waiting to announce vgs, have to check out the location

looks kind of cramped thought they would have you in the room where they do the ghost battles of injustice

Quote from: chany60126 on 10/12/2014, 11:08 AMI am not exactly sure how our space will look like this year since we will be in a different spot as others have alluded to earlier. The preference will go to our beloved turbo system as ideally I would like there to be 4 turbo stations. But if we have room we could use the x68000. You can bring it if you want, just keep in mind there is a chance we might not have room for it.

Thank you all for your offer to help! :D
chany, if you want to know how the room is come by on friday for the walter day event or go on twitch and watch the ghost battles.

2600 had couple light gun games (as well as the 7800):Crossbow, ,Alien Brigade , Meltdown, and Barnyard Blaster.
for the record the jag was planned to have a light gun made by  american laser games with mad dog Mcree (I knew this before anybody else because before the net I was on GEnie where Atari had the real time chats in the Atari Roundtable forum and Iwas in every one and I asked the question about light gun for the Jagaur) unfortatley this was around the time atari was dropping out of the console as well.

I gotta disagree with you on Doom, brother. I think the best console version of the game resides on the PS1. Killer atmospheric (I use this word all the fucking time) tunes and better play control won me over.

Also, I loaned Game Sack my Jag and SuperGrafx for that episode. I only sent as many games for both systems as I could fit in a large wooden shipping crate to accommodate their needs and allow them to produce the best show they could under the circumstances. You gotta admit though that they have the best stop-motion animated deconstruction of a Jaguar (and SGX) on the internet. :)
well of course ps1 doom was better, since the jag version was cart and ps was disc
not to mention the system was out after jag was discontinued.
but if you compare to systems in jaguars time frame that had doom(snes,32x) then it was best
The PC version was out when the jagwire version was out though. So I think it wins.
pc version was the first Its console version It references too.
its not Jagwire it JAGUAR(jagwire was there website)

I love both systems. the fact is that I have owned every atari game system with exception of 5200
2600 got xmas when launched, 7800 at launch for xmas,Lynx also launch at xmas. Jaguar  afew days after launch.
I sugguest for those who have 2600 get the harmony flash cart a 4k sd card fits all 2600 games plus when the new one is out you run the new games like zippy the porcupine and many homebrews.
the 7800 is getting a flash cart as well soon.
the lynx to my knowledge doesn't have one
the Jaguar does have a flash cart called the skunkboard where you upload new games being made on to jaguar.
I own a skunk and harmony myself and loved it.
