@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I didn't realize there was a gaming logo on the rear of these mugs.  Mine is there... It's just a little worse for wear.

If anybody made a full PC Engine/TG-16 ROM pack with organized folders AND associated artwork/screencap images with game descriptions, it'd be him.

Already a given he has a full ROM pack that also includes recent translations/hackulations but I dunno if he went as far as images/descriptions.

He mostly hangs on Facebook, he'd have to be asked there.
Thanks.  Bernie was kind enough to provide the roms to me many lifetimes ago.  I'm still using them in my TG-16 and now on the emulator.

If anyone has Bernie's FB contact info could you please PM me?  Thank you.

Hi guys,

I've gotten into emulation the past month or two.  I'm using Retropie on a Raspberry Pi 3 B+

I've moved all my TG-16 roms over to it and now I'm in the process of scraping the artwork and descriptions.  I've managed to get the scrape to work, but I have found the images to be pretty low-res and the descriptions to be subpar.

Does anyone out there already have higher res images, better descriptions, and/or a gamelist.xml?

I thought I'd ask and see if anyone is willing to share before I re-invent the wheel.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I tried posting a few images here but they were all too big.  Instead I'll link to my Dropbox and you can take a look through there at your leisure.  If anyone has any questions on anything feel free to ask!

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2ep6jq102xgyop5/AAC-vLD1NyYBapL-2udFi-5Ra?dl=0

I basically shop games for people that don't have time to do it.  "Shopping" includes breaking a game down pretty much to the playfield and giving everything a good going over.  Metal is polished, plastics are cleaned, bulbs swapped.  In the Dropbox folder you'll see F-14 (my first game) and White Water (my second game).  I don't have either game any longer but you can see some of the effort that went into getting them to where I wanted them.  For White Water there are pictures of the Bigfoot toy.  He was missing the hair on the back of his head so I searched for nearly 6 months before finding a match to the fur.  Then I de-stitched the fur, cut it to shape and glued it back to his head.  It was a near perfect match and looked even better after I gave the entire toy a bath.

I also repair connectors, and replace burnt out components on circuit boards.  I've replaced the incandescent bulbs with LEDs and I add mods for people if they want them.

Right now I have 3 pins in my basement but none of them are mine.  A new roof and a foundation repair meant that ownership would have to wait.  Thankfully people always want repairs.  The Transporter game in the Dropbox wouldn't even power on when I got it.  Now it plays 100%.  Many, many board repairs when into that one...

Of course I still have it!  I think about it everyday!  My kids aren't big into the game but I enjoy it.  I sold that Magical Chase box I got from you for like a zillion dollars though.

I was thinking of you in a non-gay way the other day too.  My son asked if we could watch that Christmas movie with the aliens!  We hooked another one!  Ha!

My work blocks most sites too but for some reason this one sneaks through.  I ain't going to tell anyone.  :-$

Hi guys,

It's been a long time.  I don't think I've visited or posted for over 2 years now, maybe more.  Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say hello.  I still see many familiar names and it's nice to see there are some constants in the world.

I have been busy in the pinball world.  A couple years ago I decided to buy my first machine and thanks to some of the good folks here, metal recycling, and selling off baby gear, I finally bought my first pin.  Since then I've had many different pinball machines in my house.  No more than 3 at a time, but they are in constant rotation.  I have found a love for repairing and restoring them and now do this on the side as a bit of a hobby.

I still have my gameroom and it's still filled with TG-16 related items.  I still have my TG-16 w/CD attachment that turbokon modded for me and it's humming along nicely.  I thought of everyone here the other day when I fired up the system and introduced my kids to Bomberman '93.  They enjoyed blowing themselves up more than each other.  We played Magical Chase (emulated), Solder Blade, R-Type, and then fired up the NES and played some Mega Man 2.  My son hasn't played much except for the original Mario Bros. and Marvel LEGO Superheroes on the PS3.  He got extremely frustrated (he's 8 ) with Mega Man until I showed him you can jump and shoot in mid-air.  Stuff you don't think to teach...

Anyway, I am not dead.  I am still lingering around and I hope you don't mind me dropping in like this just to say hello.  Good to see all your familiar faces and I hope you are and your families are all doing well.

Turbo Forever.

I'll stick around for a bit and check out the place.  I've been enjoying reading some of my old PMs.

This goes back a few pages to the discussion on moving to Canada, but I thought it was worthy of posting.  BTW, plenty of Turbob up in Canada!  I'm just sayin'!  :)

Very cool Sparky.  I still have that Bonk III you raffled off.  I thought that was a massive raffle, but this one is bigger.

Don't enter me, I just wanted to say thanks for everything you do around here.

I read it twice and I still didn't understand what I was reading.  Why would you chase virtual items?

There was a guy selling one in Quebec City a few years back.  Never assembled, but he took it out of the box to snap pictures and post on eBay.  It did not have the plexiglass.  He wanted $300 and you had to pick up locally.  I offered him $200 over 3 years ago.  He turned me down cold even after I pointed out the kiosk was incomplete.  He reposted the eBay ad over and over again for the next two years.  The last time I contacted him I offered him $150.  That was over a year ago.  I don't know if he ever sold it, but the eBay ad is gone now.

Agreed, that was pretty tame.

Off-Topic / Re: The Video Game Years
04/30/2015, 11:49 AM
I've been watching these from the start.  I gotta say it is very hit and miss too.  Sometimes there are great little nuggets of information and then other times I just zone out because it just filler n' fluff.  Segments like "Video Game Babes" or "It should have been a video game" I just skip through as I don't find them educational or funny.  Even "Forgotten Video Games" is hit or miss.

Maybe I'm getting too old?

This is potentially sold.  Thank you for your interest.

Hi guys,

As much as this pains me to do, I am thinking of selling my TE w/ hard case.  I need to fund some pinball parts and it's just sitting on a shelf.  Someone should be enjoying it.

Pricing?  I'd like to get $250+shipping, but I'm willing to entertain all reasonable offers.  This will only be sold to someone I have dealt with in the past or a long time veteran of the forum.  Basically, someone I trust.  I would prefer to keep in Canada as shipping to the USA/Internationally has become stupid expensive.  But hey!  If you want to pay for shipping then be my guest.  Item will be insured and tracked.

Details
- Re-capped by BlueBMW.
- There is a pixel (possibly two) out on the screen.  I will confirm.
- Hard case re-foamed by yours truly.  See thread here for re-foaming details and some additional pics;
https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=15135.0
- Battery compartment is very good.
- Overall condition of TE is very good.
- Overall condition of TE hard case is excellent.

I'm located in Ottawa, Ontario (K2K 1K4) in case you want to estimate shipping.  You will only pay what I pay.

Please let me know if my pricing is out of line.  Wait... This is PCEFX.  I'm sure someone will tell me if it is.   8)

It looks like they used it to scrape wallpaper off a wall.

You guys don't even see the worst parts of these eBay ads.  For me to buy this and have it shipped to Canada it's $10.40 for shipping and $17.60 in import fees.

Sent you a PM Sparky.  Sorry haven't been on here for a bit.  Xmas and other what not.

I was pretty big into off-roading 10 years ago.  Then my first child was born and I sold my lifted Jeep Cherokee for something a little more practical.

Nowadays my kids are my hobby.  When they are not pestering me I can be found playing, fixing or reading about pinball.  Currently I have one machine (which I bought after selling off some Turbob).  I have my eye on another machine come March/April time frame.

I also have a PS3, NES and SNES, but they haven't been on in months.  Lately I've been playing Clash of Clans on my stupid Samsung S4.

Please put me on the list.

I stopped reading when I saw Deep Blue advertised for [$30] and Blazing Lazers for [$30]...  ](*,)  It's tough just trying to give away Deep Blue here.

Neutopia II for $170 is madness.

I used it a couple times over a year ago.  No issues.  Shipping to Canada was also trouble free.

Baseball excites me about as much as a bird flying into a window.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 just needed to cram another 5 or 6 villians into the movie and then I'm sure it would have been just fine.

Me, I have more refined tastes, so I sat down and watched Tinkerbell and The Pirate Fairy.  it was quite possible one of the best movies of all time.  If someone doesn't get an Oscar for this film then there is something wrong with the movie industry.

spida1a any chance you'll be putting up some new pinball videos soon?

Professer P for me.  That guy is a damn bloodhound.  Saved me from a couple terrible mistakes.

There are a ton of great members here though that I've had great dealings with;

turbokon
Blue
Sparky
Necro
Ark
Bernie

This list goes on...

I expected too much out of this movie.  I barely made it through the entire flick.  For the last hour or so I was thinking "I hope this ends soon" and it just kept going and going *ugh*.  I enjoy a lot of James' work.  Some of his documentaries I have watched multiple times.  I am glad he pulled it off and fulfilled his dream, but this movie I won't watch again.

Finally bought the microSD for this and loaded up the .rom files.  This thing is fricken awesome!  I don't know why I didn't buy this little piece of heaven before.  Loading up the .rom files is super easy and very fast.  Plays just like the real thing.

Now I have a problem... I have everything on the emulator so why keep the actual HU's?  I could see keeping some of them for nostalgia sake.  Splatterhouse, Bonk, Bonk II, R-Type, but the others I don't see a reason why I should keep them when there's some money to be had.  Soldier Blade is a perfect example.  This is a $100 game (give or take).  Why keep it?  I could use the money on something else, like another pinball machine.  :D

I got mine!  It's a lot thicker than I thought it would be (that's what she said).  Packaged perfectly!  Thanks Joe!

Anyone seen Bernie of late?  Sent him a PM, but I haven't received a response.
