@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Quote from: ParanoiaDragon on 01/24/2016, 02:25 AMI don't have a PS4 yet, but some games I'm interested in are:

Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, complete remaster of the PS2 game, which I have, but never did beat...
Just wanted to point out that Odin Sphere Leifthrasir is not a Remaster but a ReMAKE. Its essentially a new game. As a bonus they also include the original PS2 game Odin Sphere running with the new graphics engine.

Quote from: TR0N on 01/24/2016, 03:51 AMBloodborne if you enjoy from software souls series  Not to mention it's dlc the old hunters is out all ready.
Gota Platinum Trophy in this game. My highest recommendation.

Quote from: TR0N on 01/25/2016, 04:16 AMMake sure the PS3 has a big enough the hard drive updates and patches eat up allot memory. For games i would recommend.

Dragon's Crown
Guilty Gear XRD
Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection
Dungeons&Dragons Chronicles of Mystara, japan got a physical release.
Demon's Souls
Dark Souls
Uncharted series
Valkyria Chronicles
This is a fantastic list!

Just to add a bit, if you REALLY like JRPGs the "Tales of" series is well represented on the system.
Also Ni No Kuni was my favorite traditional JRPG of the generation, highly recommended.

Just wanted to say I LOVE all the souls games and rank Demon's Souls my #2 after Bloodborne. Best of luck to all the entrants, make sure to stick with this game, its amazing.

I honestly never understood why, even collectors, would purposely want "bad" games. (unless they intend to resell based on value?) Rarity is not equal to quality (with some exceptions) and as other have stated your money could be better spent.

Now, I do get obsessing over something that is out of reach, but surely the disappointment you may experience after spending upwards of $300 for a mediocre at best game is fuel enough to dissuade you!

If you have a PS4, the original Terra Cresta https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/arcade-archives-terra-cresta/cid=UP0571-CUSA00983_00-HAMPRDC000000001 is available on the PlayStation Store as an Arcade classic for $7.99.

I suggest playing that "sobbering up" and moving on. Also, As someone who only plays on original hardware and wants original games an everdrive is an amazing purchase for exactly this reason. Invest in that, and play TC2 that way, win/win :)

Exactly! So damn irritating seeing his face everytime I check videos. I checked his channel out, and thoroughly detested it. Nothing against him, I just don't like the cut of his jib.
Go to his "about" page (https://www.youtube.com/user/MetalJesusRocks/about) click on the flag at the bottom then block him. I haven't seen him in recommendations ever since.
Awesome man, thanks! No longer will I have to see his face.

Edit: Holy shit, I am blocking channels like a maniac now, it's beautiful.

Congrats! Classic game, and from what I've heard a damn fine version of it.

What I really try to go for is Case, Instructions, and Game in good or better quality. I personally try to avoid loosies since I tend to misplace them or forget about em.

For the case: I  keep types together so having the games case is needed/wanted for organizing and storing and I like how they look and generally love game cover art.

Instructions: Back when instructions in games were actually necessary, its almost a must to have the instructions. Sure you can find reprints of em online and what not, but If at all possible I try to get the original instructions. Make for great toilet reading as well.

Turbo-Boxes: I've never kept any turbo boxes except the Y's I&II box since I repurchased that much later from TTI and used it to store the map.  To me Turbo boxes were always meant to be discarded since the game cases were designed as CD Clamshells and meant to be stored as such. I always thought of the box as a way to secure shelf space at retail.

Anyway if by chance you would like to sell me the game, please let me know. Thanks!

I own it and think its very worth playing, especially for the "Saturn" mode, as to the cost, I'd say its definitely not worth what its going for these days. If you have the means, track down a way to play it and judge for yourself if the investment is worth it.

Man dont those things go for $300 and import from Japan only?
About that yea, but in my honest opinion its worth each and every cent. The picture you can get on a modern TV is stunning I honestly love the thing. Obviously if you have the room a nice CRT or Monitor is probably the best way to go, but adding another screen for me is not an option.
Yeshhhh. Look on ebay its closer to $450-500.
!! Man prices are freaking absurd now, but many of those are of the BIN > Price it high because we can variety.  Several of the last sold were around $350 though and a used "Mint" condition one sold for $200. If you're in the market for one, don't pay more than $350 and can probably do a little less if you wait for used one to go up.

Edit: Interesting. If you look as some of the higher priced "last sold" models the price listed is NOT the price it sold for. What happened was several units were sold, and since then the seller has increased the price and that increased price is what's showing up as the sold price, when in actuality the real sold prices were much lower.

For example, the seller who shows the last sold for 680, but when you check the buyer history the only 4 sold were all between $360 and $372. Dunno if this is an error on ebays part or not, but I guess the moral of the story is to do a bit of checking before you buy/bid :)

Quote from: Mathius on 11/12/2014, 12:55 PMSNES, Genesis, Turbo, and oddly GameCube have skyrocketed in the last year. I was at a retro game shop a few weeks ago and they wanted $115 for a loose Chrono Trigger and $50 for Mario Kart on GameCube! I paid $12 for my copy just recently! Hopefully this is the prices peaking out.
I think, ultimately, the best thing to do is get a Mega Everdrive and pick up the real games I cherish as funds permit. I found the Turbo Everdrive was a great tool in for "I just want to play the game" with the prices as they are.

I find Tatsujin, Nexzr and Image Fight to be the hardest for me. Though I've made a decent amount of progress in Tatsujin and Nexzr.

edit: After seeing Necro's link, I feel pretty good about my choices. These are some damn fine games that want nothing more than to destroy you.

Quote from: Medic_wheat on 11/11/2014, 05:16 PMThose are all good games for the genesis

Do you have a lost of games you'd like for the genesis?
I do, kinda. To my amazement genesis games have become stupidly expensive (I guess I should have expected it) but my short list is somthing like this:

Shinobi III: Own this on Sonic genesis Collection PS3 but would love to play it on original hardware.

Streets of Rage 1,2: Same for these though I owned them both back in the day.

MUSHA: (Can't believe what this is going for these days, its really nuts. This is one of the games I owned and LOVED before selling my Genesis to the dirty rats at EB Games. The game has stayed in my mind all these years later as my favorite Genesis game)

Castlevania Bloodlines: Never owned this, but after getting back into Rondo of Blood recently I'm very interested in checking this out.

Alisia Dragoon, Granada. Never played either but after seeing them on Gamesack I'd like to check em out. They look pretty cool.

Probably some more, I dunno to be honest I've kinda been shell shocked by the prices in general and have put off picking anything up unless I can get it for a decent deal, though even that is relative.
CIB Genesis used to be a lot more reasonable with the standouts being MUSHA and Crusader of Centy, the only ones in the 3 digit range.  It's gotten much worse just in the last year though, I think all the SNES folks are jumping ship because the prices are astronomical over there.
Makes sense, I also think the release of the Retron 5 had an effect on prices going up since you have to use real cartridges. I really couldn't have picked a worse time to be looking for games, lol.

Ever since restarting my Turbo/PC Engine buying, I've been thinking about My old Genesis and my regret of selling it to buy a PS1.  In retrospect, it was a dumb move, yes, but at the time, I thought "old games are old." So it is now that I am literally paying for my shortsightedness and have started trying to reacquire my genesis games of old. This was also helped along when I received my Selecty 21, allowing me to connect 3 21 pin RGB consoles to my system simultaneously.

I only have 3 games so far and received the latest 2 in the mail yesterday. Ultimately my genesis library wont be a large as my others, but I have a lot of fond memories of paying the system and am glad to be reaquainted with it.

Finally connected my PSTV to my set up.

A warning: If you try to rely on the PSTV's WiFi, your screwed. The WiFi is pretty atrocious I was trying to stream a game from my PS4 to the PSTV and it was basically unplayable with lag spikes and freezes constantly interrupting play.

Once I hooked it up wired, it ran super smoothly and was very playable. So far my use has been restricted to using it as a proxy PS4 when my wife wants to use the TV, so in that sense, it actually has preformed quite well.

To update on my experience, the seller of the item I won was kind enough to send me a pick of my item and the tracking number. Assuming the description is accurate I will be very satisfied once the game arrives.

Will post again once I receive it.

Read the book Racing the Beam - it has a great section on the creation of that game and is an awesome deeply-technical look at the 2600.
Very cool, thanks for the suggestion!

General Gaming / Game Gavel Auction Site

UPDATE

I received my game yesterday and am very happy with the process and seller I dealt with. The game was in superb condition and the seller did a great job by contacting me with a photo of the USPS receipt w/tracking number.

I would recommend this site, but with the condition that each seller varies and to make sure you are comfortable (based on feedback) with the person whom you do business.

I will be using this site again and hopefully it can gain some traction as a nice alternative for lovers of retro games.

Looking to see if anyone has experience with this site. Found a couple of decent deals but the site itself is unknown to me and thus makes me a bit suspicious.

http://www.gamegavel.com/

If anyone has used it, any advice would be really appreciated.

Haha yup. The person who sold me the copy did put a little effort into it by putting in full color (low quality) CD case sleeve and printing a blown up picture of the games cover on the disc also in color. Its a total hack job but at better than a marker titled CD I guess. Ill post a pic of it when I get home.

Got one and hooked it up but have been too busy to really give it a proper try out.

The hook up I did was not final as I need to figure out if I'll keep it on my primary TV or a smaller TV for when my wife has the main set occupied.
