Remember when I first came on, there was a guy who put his Beyond Shadowgate and Might&Magic on Ebay 1-day auction and it skyrocketed to over $100 each. Just goes to show there's always someone waiting to dish out the cash.

Forgot Terraforming, BTW.

Sorry you don't like it your alone in your little "battle" your waging.  Ignoring the fact you can talk shit, but others can't...I could care less if your happy nat's a mod, and I'm not.  There seems to be reasons why Aaron chose the way he's running his auctions, prob for the reasons already stated.  Just cause you want to make it a clusterfuck of PM's for him to deal with, and you seem alone thinking that's a good idea..and now want to lash out at those that disagree...like I said thicker skin.  You seem to be easily rilled.
Easily riled? LOL You're the one consistently making paragraph long replies to one line posts and have this obsession to keep this "battle" alive by having the last word. I've already made my peace with this, you're the one that needs to let this go.

Quote from: nectarsis on 07/08/2009, 12:00 AMAs their on more than Aaron they voiced their opinion.  You're on a forum, people voice their opinions (and as they've both been here long enough, and actually dealt with Aaron) they have a basis for their opinions.   I'm sure Aaron will answer directly when he can, but to expect everyone to not comment until he does, and only HE has the right to comment is ridiculous.  Seeing as a mod (nat) see's their opinions as valid also...why don't you jump on him to...
Cause he didn't take the high-n'-mighty, self-righteous road and didn't make me feel like crap like Sinistron and Necromancer did. Seriously, I have no beef with you guys but when you get into a conversation and start calling people "cheaters". Nothing good can come of it. Like I said drop the drama and move on.

Oh no. The problem is they're being too presumptuous in thinking they ARE Aaron's opinion. Guys, Aaron's a big boy. He can speak for himself. It was a simple suggestion, I would've backed off if Aaron said it wasn't okay with it. Drop the drama and move on.
NEVER saw them presume that was Aaron's opinion...their opinions based on educated GUESSES/common sense.
Yeah, they did. Why would anyone TRY unless he/she didn't believe that person couldn't come to the same rational conclusion. Otherwise, they'd Aaron handle himself.

Quote from: Press_Run on 07/06/2009, 06:26 PMNo, was thinking instead waiting three days and go through a bidding war, everyone could put in their offers for the items they want and pcenginefx sells off a ton of games in one swoop.
He's selling his collection for money, not for shiggles and gits.  The current auctions help maximize his take (how are bidding wars bad for the seller?) and maintain transparency, forestalling accusations of unfairness.
And you doubt anyone here is going to give a good price for a slice of his collection?  Besides auctions only help get the high marks when its comes to ultra-rare games, which are up on Ebay already. If he wanted to make the most of his collection, then why isn't he putting them up as BINs w/BO or set reserve prices for his auctions. Not to say, he doesn't need the money but doubt he's someone who obsessively squeezing every penny he can get. So how is it any different taking up offers, whose threads are posted regularly on every vg site? Where you can review offers, potentially sell off games as lots, moving stuff faster and getting money quicker.

Hey pcenginefx

Is it possible to send offers on items you haven't put for auction yet?

(Can't believe I didn't come up with this sooner.  ](*,))
#12
It's okay. Wouldn't be fair if you accepted my bid obviously and it's only a dollar.

But you know what you should do for the next auction. Have bidders pm you with the item and bid as their title. The highest bid wins. Update every so often. Avoid the whole reply warning debacle close to the deadline.
#13
Dam, would have bid in time if the dang forum didn't stop with its warning everytime someone replied while I was typing the bid. Had to hit the post button like 5 times before I could get in edgewise.

One question: by midnight, do you mean 6/30 11:59 7/1 Midnight or 7/1 11:59 7/2 midnight?

Saw it too. Watching a few myself but most are ridiculously priced, IMO.

There goes my chance of getting a boxed Magical Chase.

Oh well, it'll be entertaining to watch the ridiculous bids on this gold brick. Hey, let's have a little side pool to see how high it goes. Place your bets!  =D>

BTW, fantastic pictures.

What's the final word on the auctions? Will they be forum-only, straight to Ebay, or mix of both?

Managed to grab this beauty for $60 off Ebay....without manual.  :(

Luckily geddon was generous enough to send his Super Air Zonk copy for free. So, Kudos to you, my friend!  =D>  =D>  =D>

It's been nearly one year since starting on the Turbo box hunt. Over that time, crazy sh!t keeps popping up including Ebay, where resellers have justified this hyper-inflation as "appreciation in growth". To that I say....screw them! Adding to that I'll list the prices for the games I've acquired and just to be sure there's no more for doubt (or excuses), let's stick to some of the more recent stuff.

Air Zonk $20
Jackie Chan $11
Ys III $13
Time Cruise $20
New Adventure Island $20
Raiden $23
Chase HQ $28
Shockman $25
Soldier Blade x2 $70

Let's not forget Super Air Zonk $70
(Yes its $10 more than what I told ya but that's how much was willing to pay for it.)
#21
Gotta disagree with ya, Zeta. The free market has run rampant and here's the proof:

https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=6189.0

No point in taking an average when nearly everything is usurped by greedy resellers and price gougers. They've bought group auctions for ridiculous amounts, then sell them for more ridiculous amounts. Take Super Air Zonk. A week ago, a reseller bought a Turbo Duo lot including Super Air Zonk for $300 before anyone else knew there was one. Later, he put it up for sale (w/ loose Air Zonk) for $155 and got picked up by Pompous (Pompey Parsons). Where he now sold it for $195. That's just one example.

These resellers' chokehold has not only effected everyone on forums and websites, but everybody worldwide (nationwide at least). Store owners are constantly referring to Ebay to justify all their pricing and in turn, screwing the consumer into unnecessary flipping more cash just because some fat schmoo in his mom's basement believes he's entitled to a king's ransom. We don't need a snapshot, we need a lasso to hogtie these crazy critters in their place.

Throwing in my two cents.

Order of the Griffon $40 $25
Splatterhouse $30 $25
Time Cruise $35 $20

Beyond Shadowgate $120 $85
Bonk 3 cd $175 $80
Dungeon Explorer $150 $85
dragon slayer $55 $40
gate of thunder $40 $25
godzilla $100 $50
might and magic III $125 $80
super air zonk $175 $75
ys book 1 and 2 $40 $25
ys 3 $45 $25

Two things don't agree with this one list:

1. Sparky is right. We all learned recently, going to ebay for prices is like asking a sugar addict how much for a chocolate bar. Almost everything concerning turbo price from there should be taken with a grain of salt.

2. The rare games are priced WAY too high on account of the hyper inflation recently. IMO, the only games worthy to go beyond the $100 mark are Dynastic Hero and Magical Chase.

Raiden.....25 1/2 (complete w/box)

/p1010334wfi.jpg /p1010335x.jpg

Interesting arcade story.

I'm Greek and both my parent are Greek. Actually, they both come from the same village and moved here to America. For summer vacation, my family goes there visiting families, catching up with old friends, stop by the beach every day (beautiful view of the Mediterranean sea, btw), the whole family reunion package with the trimmings on top. The village is called Armeni. A rural spot on the southwestern edge of Greece's south peninsula and getting takes 3-4 hours (by mountain  :-#). Dwarfed by the country's huge mountains. Literally, the tops of them can touch the clouds. The people there are mostly farmers and live a regulatory life. They wake up at dawn tending to their crops, morning they're sipping coffee, have lunch at noon, quiet time in the afternoon, and party all night!

So, what does any of this have to do with video games or arcades? Well, when I was young, the local cafe used had (believe or not) arcades. They had some of the best kind around. Don't care about 90's arcade decline when a remote village can get great games like Bubble Bobble, Shinobi, and even Street Fighter II! Then, that's bullsh!t. To top it off, they had Raiden. It was fun to play  but hard to beat.

Quote from: override on 06/14/2009, 06:15 PMThis is very true! There are alot of resellers that are going to go for these items....I wonder pcengine if you should hold the auction on the forums. Like you could post a set of games and then start the bidding....Give it say 24 or 36 hours....Start the bidding at like .99 and then people come in and post there bids. See how the competition is on the forums...I will deff post a bid or two. Whoever posted the last bid at the end of the time gets it! YAY! =D>

Neways just an idea ofcourse im sure you would have to incorporate rules into it....I think it would be a sweet idea tho! Id be interested to see all the people that bid!

Thanks to peluso8, not one but TWO awesome entries. He kind enough to let pick them in person. Thanks man!  =D>

We had a little talk and peluso mentioned Adventure Island were part of the massive Turbo trade-in at Joe's store. For those who don't know, NAVA is the monthly gaming at the Digital Press in New Jersey held by none other than a true hardcore gamer, Joe Santulli (or Santucci wasn't very good with names). Anyway, nearly one year ago, during the May NAVA, some guy brings in a treasure trove of Turbo treats. It had nearly everything Dynastic Hero, Beyond Shadowgate, Might and Magic III, Neutopia II, loose Magical Chase (I'm cutting it here as some of you maybe drooling at this point.  =P~).

Luckily for me, I was one of the few to get first dibs on this TG gamer's wet dream. The games I wanted had boxes and surprisingly enough....I didn't want them.  Before you get out the pitchfork and torches, let me explain myself a little. At that time, the only games boxed were Splatterhouse, Cosmic Fantasy 2, and Exile with the rest in jewel cases and had no intention in going beyond that as it's somewhat difficult to find a place to put them in neatly. So, I went up to Joe and asked were it possible to sell the games and the boxes separately.   No dice he said. Stuck in one crazy conundrum, on one hand, I could take the games then trade off the boxes later but naturally a packrat, they'd pry them from cold body before that happens, or leave with nothing. There's always coming back later but who know if there's another golden opportunity like this.

What to do? What to do?

*snap* Then it came to me! If I'm going to get them boxed, why not get them all? That's where my Turbo tenacity went into overdrive. Bought about 15-20 goodies including Dead Moon, Somer Assault, Dragon's Curse, Paranoia, Exile II, and plenty to give me a jump start. That was one year ago. What started as a fraction, now makes up the majority with over 100 titles and inching ever so closer to the goal. I must say....I'm DAMN proud  of it.  :D

Hey, welcome.

A little piece of advice, drop the reserve price. They tend to be taboo to bidders, making them reluctant in pushing the big bucks. Then again a boxed MC is pretty rare nowadays and the whole reserve thing won't be an issue. I'm interested to see how this ends. (Yet the same time sad. )

Arcades are the best!

These massive quarter-munchers define gaming quality even to the days of massive poly counts and high-definition hype. No modern machine can ever replace the good times you had chucking the joystick and mashing the buttons. Alas quarters raining from the sky is still a faroff dream and the time spent is barred by far our weekly allowance could hold. The goodbyes were full of hope yet full of sadness.

That's why the heavens created home consoles, bringing the arcade experience to comfort of home. Although the full deal was still a decade off, there were two things that came close in that time: beat 'em ups and shooters. It seems no matter the game, these two genres could never disappoint, even if they tried. Our fond childhood memories are irreplaceable.

Favorite arcade game: Tumble Pop

What's yours?

Let me confess....I suck at pinball.

I suck worse at pinball video games.  ](*,)

That tricky, silver ball seems to have a mind of it own. A mind hellbent on making my experience as miserable as possible. No matter what tricks or flips I use, those things have made their mission to kamikaze dead center (the area between the flippers they can't reach) and ruin whatever hopes in reaching the high score. For video games, take whatever I just said and take to the power of ten. It's as if these metal balls are possessed?!

Can silver balls be possessed by the devil?

Anyway I've played all three turbo pinballs including Devil's Crush and Alien Crush and the great thing they all share is the music. But Time Cruise wins the race by a nose for the vibrant, colorful 80's throwback theme. What? I was a child of the 80s. (Well I was born in the 80s. )

Well, that's good to know, especially since I use mastercard. He did get back to me (I think Sin's email might have sent him the message hehe) and says he's going to refund me for the Neutopia and mail me another complete Bloody Wolf. We'll see.
If a refund via cc is possible, then forget the games and tell him to blow his horn where the sun don't shine. Obviously, he's just buying more time cause if he's hasn't mailed in three months, then he's a con or a lazy slug. Either way, good chance you're not going to get those games. Better off waiting for them to pop up on Ebay or the forums.

Either way, good luck with the transaction.

Tiger Road leads the way forward towards zero. Managed to buy it from Ebay for $16 and that includes shipping. Futile attempts had this baby go as high as $40. Didn't figure Tiger Road was submerging anything soon but lo and behold.  It's funny how old proverbs comes out true or this case, "Patience is a virtue" or "Good things come to those who wait."
