Quote from: gheebee on 11/30/2015, 04:14 PMA region modded and recapped PCE Duo arrived safely and well packed today from Alpha Zones!
I had the same thing done to my PCE Duo and also received it yesterday. One thing I want to point out and compliment is how clean well done his region mod looks. His looks like it came from that factory this way.

Quote from: toktogul on 11/30/2015, 07:15 AMI used to offer that kind of service, but people on a different forum I wont name resold the games or consoles I got for them on the cheap. I was trying to help fellow collectors to get good prices in Japan, but people took advantage of me to make money. That made me sick. If you really want something, let me know what you want and I will see what I can do for you, but I am no longer buying 15+ games for any individual without asking 10-15% money. It sucks, but there are a lot of jerks in this world
I assure you if I ever sell my dracula X you hooked me up with ,it will be here for the price I paid.

What a great thing your doing.

I'm thankful for my kids. And beer.
#9
I always thought an update version of Monster Party would been perfect for turbo grafx
#10
That's awesome! I got mine in yesterday and very happy! Do you want us to go ahead and PM you about the next batch now or wait?

Quote from: Mzo on 11/19/2015, 02:27 AMJust wanted to give the OP a heads up and mention that R-Type II is just the second half of the first R-Type game because it came split into two on the PCE but was later joined together into the one game it should be for the US release and the CD version.

Maybe you already knew that, but it is a little confusing since there is a for reals R-Type II.  Just not on PCE/Turbo.

Toilet Kids makes me think of Liquid Kids, which is the shit.  No pun intended.
I am aware Mazo but thank you for the heads up I appreciate,

BigusSchmuck I had no clue that there was that much difference between the two I will have to check it out then.

toktugul I sent you a PM.
#12
Thanks for suggestion Otaking but I have JJ and Jeff which I think is the turbo version. Unless there is a difference Idk about.

I'm also partial to shooters, and  like the simplicity of the game for them. Shot stuff, see poop have a laugh.
#13
I had one before and still have some games. I'm passing on both for the time being.
#14
Quote from: BigusSchmuck on 11/17/2015, 01:51 PMI feel sorry for the OP as all he was looking for was a AES or a consolized MVS. I think he got way more than what he bargained for.
These things happen. I decided to pass on owning a neo geo again and just Obey.
#15
Looking for a copy of R-type II of either bomber game. Case and manual are highly preferable but I am open to loose as well.

Maybe I am a bad parent but I feel my young kids would love the game toilet kids, and possible open to a  copy if its not too much.
#16
That sounds pretty cool if you do it. I like the idea of trying something entertaining.
#17
Well if you want to go the modded route, but don't trust your self you can PM Keith Courage or another member that will do a region mod for a fee.
#18
These games look awesome, I hope to try it once finished.
#19
I retract any mentioning of translations. I've been reading old threads and I didn't realize how much damage has been caused by some of these translations being profited off of clear wishes from the translators not to be released. I don't want this to off topic so just ignore me.
#20
"These repros are why we're going to have fewer translations done going forward"

I'm not sure I follow fully. I assume it is because people are not getting compensation or credit for their hard work to translate a game and somebody making a killer profit off everybody else's work? I assume that is what you are aiming at and I get that. I see it all the time with Mother 3 translations.

I'm not agreeing with anybody taking somebodys work that was given to the public for free, and then cashing in and not even give credit. I get that most people that did those translations are a member of this site and probably been burned on it and not want it to happen again or keep doing something that might be kept being used despite not giving there persmission to do so. But since nobody was making a profit really off these I figure it might be a different circumstance.
#21
I think this is great.I hope one day the possibility of seeing more translated games getting pressed, that otherwise normally wouldn't get a chance to play.
#22
I got mine back in 94 so I'm not sure where i fall in it. My older cousinet me and my brother borrow his for a year and and said we could just keep it. It had Bonk, Keith courage, Dungenon Explorer, and R-Type.

This is a true story. I remember going to Video Game Exchange if people remember those, looking for Bonks Revenge and other games. I remember seeing this stupid game with a witch on it thinking it was some game for a girl and quickly passing on it.

Yes...but n-g folks are a special clique. You think PCFX members are brash, opinionated assholes, wait till you read these guys threads.

Quote from: stinkoman on 11/11/2015, 10:36 AMLooking for an AES with a couple games or a consolized MVS.
Are you just getting interested in Neo or is this a replacement? I went MVS (cab) route myslef, over the years I've acquired a few carts, all loose, some boots. Sold and traded some turds.
 /w1081-h258-no
Yeah they are pretty bad. I have an account from 2002 that is still active. I stop dealing with that site because of the self entitled assholes over there.

I'm not looking to sink a lot of money into and build a collection. At least not AES stuff. I had a system in the past and have a few games from when i had my last system and just want to play a few of them again. The consolized MVS is nice cause it opens the doors for more games down the road.

Quote from: stinkoman on 11/03/2015, 10:39 AMI do believe there is one. I think really the systems biggest flaw is all the box art is terrible and eye sore.
Pause button being on the system?
The library mostly consisting of arcade ports?
Very limited Japanese third party support?

The SMS has much greater problems than the box art
I guess your write and make good points about those. The pause button never bothered me. The mostly arcade ports also don't bother me. But I didn't buy any of the games when it was new nor played the arcade ports so my view is from a much later stand point, but could see how that could turn somebody off if they wanted something new when It came out.

The 3rd party support thing with nintendo really did hurt them.

Quote from: stinkoman on 11/03/2015, 10:25 AMI had owned Golden Axe and it is indeed awesome. For me I found it kinda hard.

Master system is a fun little system that gets overlooked. I think it had a lot of good looking games, lots of great games that can be had for cheap and a decent homebrew scene. I believe in brazil they still sell Sega Master systems in stores and I know they have huge list of import exclusives.
I might take the plunge into the Sega Master System soon.  It's one of the only retro systems I don't have.  I might start with the Game Gear adapter to play them.  I wonder if there is a Master System Everdrive out there?

Thanks for all the replies. My biggest issue for me is I am a die hard castlevania fan and collector. It has a been a game I been lusting over for a long time like most. So with all that it one of the few games I want to have an actual copy of. I did PM about a repro from Bernie and that might curve my desire for it, but I have yet to see a copy for $150 lately.
#32
Like the title suggests, are there any others besides them? I googled the crap out of and it seems to be a no, but that doesn't mean there isn't any.

I also haven't played Neutopia. Was looking into getting the japanese version. Are the games heavy dependent on knowing japanese ?
#33
So I tried this on 4 tv's and had no luck. I gave it to my brother to try and he took it to a retro game store and it worked right away for him. Guy at the game store seems to think I might not had everything plugged in all the way. I'll try it Tommorrow when I have it back.  I feel pretty certain I've had everything plugged in tight though :/ and yes it is a black duo.
#34
To be clear it's the basic cables that Come with a duo. All stock and not moded.

The first TV was not HD the others where. When I power it on It's not a blank screen that might happen say if you had a Nintendo cart and no images shows up. The tv never changes when I turn it on . But like said the disc will spin when I power it up and push run.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.
#35
Not very good with technical terms but it's the red, yellow and white composite? Cables hooked directly to the tv and trying to use that input source

Console Repair/Mod Center / No input
11/01/2015, 12:07 PM
So I recieved a Japanese PC engine duo. My issue is I can not get any input on the TV. The seller I bought it from said it was recently recapped tested and works. He has over 100 positive feed back from the site I bought it from and tested it right before shipping. I push the run button the light comes on, discs spins but the tv never changes and it's on the right setting as far as I can tell. Giving him the benefit of the doubt and it doesn't need recapped anything I'm doing wrong? I am trying it on newer tv' or is it that the caps might been damaged during shipping?

I'm ok I guess paying $150 for it .  My big issue is I wanted this game forever and a
Seems like it stayed between $75-$125 for the last 10 years and now it's shot up in the last few months. I will probably get the repro to hold me over

Quote from: stinkoman on 10/29/2015, 12:06 PMOut of curiosity since I don't know what the real discs look like compared to these, is there any indications to be able to distguinsh these between and original and one of these so people don't try to flip these as such? I ask cause I see a lot repro nes and snes carts for the same purpose but you couldnt tell the difference without taking it apart.
The discs and the repros are wildly different in design, starting with the PCEWorks logo.
I can't believe i missed that logo. Thank you.

Since halloween is around the corner, What are some "horror' or scary type games that I might have missed out on for Turbo or Pc engine?

Splatterhouse
Dracula X
Renny Blaster
Dead of the brain
ghouls and goblins

Those are the only ones i can think of at this time. I'm sure there has to be more.

looking for a copy of dracula x. Doesn't have to be complete but prefer to have the case and manual.
#43
It's been a while since I checked on prices for system and would like an opinion. I found a Jap Turbo Duo for $200 with everything including shipping. It is not an R or RX and it has low sound so I think that tells me Ill need to do a the capacitors soon? He wont budge on price. Is this a good deal or is it kinda high pending the issues?
#44
Mine as always been bonk 3. When I was a kid I went to buy it and had a copy in my hand. My brother said it was the duo CD version and not hu card and put it back and never found it in public again. To this day i'm not sure if he was right. Then as I got older I tried to get it off and on either not having enough, or no one willing to sell it for a decent price. I still refuse to pay over $100 for it even then I don't feel like I should pay that.
